Venn is seeking an Assistant Vice President to join its health care practice. The ideal candidate is an experienced congressional staffer, HHS official, or lobbyist with experience in health care advocacy, including legislative or regulatory work. Applicants should have an established track record of legislative or regulatory successes and have close working relationships with Congressional staff as well as staff in the Administration.

Experience

• Service on Capitol Hill and/or the Administration
• In place of public service, experience managing client advocacy and project efforts
• Deep content competency in one or more subject areas related to health policy
• Mapping and executing strategy for achieving client/project goals
• Contributing to client and advocacy meetings confidently with desired outcomes

Responsibilities

• Effectively engage with senior-level political and policy relationships and in third-party organizations to support client and firm goals
• Demonstrate the ability to independently generate clear federal advocacy deliverables
• Anticipate client and project needs and engage internal and external assets to meet them
• Identify challenges to reach targeted objectives and proactively design strategy/engage resources to seek alternative approaches
• Be a strong and consistent mentor to junior staff members
• Provide clear value to business development pitches
• Identify opportunities to expand client work
• Show clear initiative in bringing policy ideas to the management team and clients on how to achieve client business goals
• Identify and work to address staffing gaps
• Demonstrate superlative analytical and communications skills, both written and oral
• Provide regular, constructive input to improve the operations of the firm and to bolster the value of the firm’s client work
