An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Despatch Operator to join our team on a 6-month contract in our Logistics department. The Despatch Operator will be required to assist the Despatch Leading Hand to pack and despatch customer orders in a timely and efficient manner to meet business needs and legal requirements governing the transport of dangerous goods. The job holder will need to be flexible to assist the Packing Department when required.

Key responsibilities

Despatch 

• Receive products which have been packed and store them in an appropriate area until final packing operation is required. 
• Select appropriate outer containers for packing of tins, vials, securitainers and bottles ensuring that final packing conforms to IATA/ADR/IMDG regulations. (Must attend Dangerous Goods by air (IATA) and Road (ADR) course as required to maintain certification which is mandatory). 
• Check and verify delivery of products against documentation received from Packing Department.
• Supply Shipping and Commercial Departments with information and documentation covering orders scheduled for despatch. 
• Organise transfer as required. 
• In the absence of the Despatch Leadinghand, cover all his duties including :- 
• Day to day scheduling. 
• Departmental security. 
• Supervision of staff seconded to assist in daily tasks. 

Packing 

• Flexibility to assist in Packing Operations as required 
• Participates in the warehousing of stock from Production. 
• Participates in taring works kegs. 
• Participates in labelling finished product containers. 

What you need for the role

To succeed in this role you will have;

• IATA and ADR Dangerous Goods certificates are required by the regulatory authorities (training will be provided to the post holder).
• Previous experience in Despatch / shipping environment.
• Good communication and team working skills, with the ability to motivate others.
• Ability to adapt to meet business demands and deliver to deadlines whilst remaining thorough and accurate.
