Job Description

The Project Manager is responsible for leading cross-functional project teams to ensure successful, on-time and on-budget delivery of active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) new product introductions, product changes and technology transfers. The Project Manager interacts with all site functions (including leadership) and has a wide-reaching influence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Expected to manage multiple projects simultaneously and works with global teams to execute successful API new product introductions, technology transfers and product change requests.
  • Facilitates internal and external meetings and drives decision making within the project team.
  • Provides excellent customer service to customers and stakeholders, striving for project management excellence.
  • Has the required skill set and knowledge to manage both Originator and Generic Projects.
  • Follows a consistent, cross-functional project management approach by creating, controlling/monitoring project plans, action and risk logs and project budgets.
  • Drives project delivery within the constraints of scope, quality, time, and budget to meet project objectives and to achieve a high degree of customer (internal and external) satisfaction
  • Develops and maintains strong collaborative working relationships and interacts effectively with all levels within the organization 
  • Builds relationships with clients and serves as the primary point of contact. Understands upcoming milestones for client programs and communicates cross functionally as needed
  • Manages projects independently and requires minimal project oversight based on experience
  • Tracks project progress and reports status internally and to clients throughout the project lifecycle. This could involve high level program reports and presentations for senior management and clients 
  • Interacts with all site functions (R&D, Operations, Commercial, QA/RA, Supply Chain, Finance) and has wide reaching influence
  • Manages projects involving multiple sites and works with global teams to perform successful technology transfers 
  • To carry out/take on any other duties which are within the employee’s skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry or equivalent discipline with some experience of hands-on process, analytical or manufacturing experience in the pharmaceutical industry required, API experience preferred.
  • Experience in a project management role and demonstrated experience leading projects is required. Level of role will be determined by candidates' number of years' experience with increasing complexity.
  • Must have demonstrated experience in project execution, leadership, and application of project management best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to demonstrate strong relationship management, sense of urgency, negotiation, influencing, and teamwork are required.
  • Excellent MS Office skills including Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint required.
  • Knowledge of the regulatory aspects of the drug approval process and an awareness of cGMPs as they relate to drug substance manufacturing.
  • Experience building strategic work relationships, both internal and external.
  • Other duties as assigned.
