What you will be doing:As a Network Engineer for the Public Sector Federal Aviation Administration Enterprise Network Engineering Services (FENS) engineering team, you will be a network access diversity engineer on a multi-discipline team. As Network Engineer for local access and transport diversity, you will have the responsibility ensure that the Verizon FENS network local access and transport designs are created and solutioned to meet the FAA end to end full geographic diversity. You are well versed across multiple network technology disciplines to include but not limited to access, transport, MPLS, and Cyber Security. You also have experience in working closely with ILEC and CLEC partners (Including Verizon) to provide all requirements for diversity and work with them to design and validate the access designs provided by Third-party carriers. You will work in a cross-functional and cross-organizational environment (including Third party partners) to facilitate and design the FENS initial and on-going access solutions for the FAA complex requirements throughout the life-cycle of the FENS program.
You will be focused on the survivability and resiliency in the access designs for the FAA FENS opportunity. The goal will be to design and deliver the best technical diverse access designs along with the best customer service. You will need to:
  • Understand customer business challenges.
  • Develop network local access and diversity designs to solve the customer need.
  • Conduct audits on access and transport diversity on a monthly basis.
  • Provide briefings at various levels.
  • Conduct and build business and cost models based on technical network access design.
  • Lead and guide internal and external teams with creating and delivering complex, integrated solutions to meet our customer requirements.
What we are looking for:You are an effective and inspiring leader, able to engage and motivate cross functional teams to deliver outstanding performance. You have the business insight and executive presence to establish credibility with executive leaders (e.g., internally, customer, and ILEC/CLEC partners). As a technical leader you are able to explain how Verizon and Third-party network access designs help meet the customer survivability and resiliency requirements. You enjoy working in a dynamic environment and can balance contending demands and priorities.
You'll need to have:
  • Experience in designing end to end local access and transport designs including full geographic diversity (e.g., wireline, Verizon, and Third-party carriers).
  • Experience in architecting survivable and resilient mission critical access circuits.
  • Experience in working with internal and external ILEC and CLEC partners on diverse designs.
  • Bachelor's degree with four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in leading cross functional teams with understanding of how business and technical requirements interweave to create solutions.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Government Public Trust security clearance.
  • Ability to cross function with Product teams, customer, operations, and engineering to deliver network access designs.
  • Experience in communicating (written and spoken) highly technical, multi-faceted (e.g., network, security, data) solutions to customers in a simple, understandable manner.
  • Ability to document designs in formal engineering specification e.g., line diagrams, Visio, KMZ.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal communication, organization and project management skills.
  • Experience in two or more technical areas listed:
    • Data and IP Networking Services (MPLS, LTE, 5G, internet, VPN).
    • Local Access Technologies (TDM, Ethernet).
    • Wireless technologies (IoT).
    • Wide area networking, routing protocols, and VPN design.
Even Better if you have:
  • Four or more years of successful experience with strategic solutions and/or systems integration design and solutions selling experience (consultative solutions selling).
  • Highly organized with an ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Communication, organization, and negotiation skills with the ability to successfully work multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Working with Enterprise customers with >1,000 locations designing network local access and transport solutions
  • Public Sector Domain Experience to include both Federal and Department of Defense contract and procurement experience.
  • Experience in the Aviation industry.
