POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Assistant Supervisor, Warehouse Operations is responsible to assist the Supervisor, Supply Chain and the Assistant Supervisor in Presque Isle in all aspects of controlling and maintaining the material and inventory supplies of the Company to include the receipt, storage, distribution and auditing controls of inventory items. The incumbent at times assists in the supervision of warehouse personnel.

TO ASSIST WITH THE ESSENTIAL WAREHOUSE FUNCTIONS:

• Supervision of the day-to-day operations of the Company’s warehouse function. Monitoring Warehouse facility for security and good housekeeping practices.
• Training new employees in company policies, environmental requirements, established warehouse procedures and inventory software usage.
• The proper receipt, storage and distribution of inventory items.
• Ensuring that all inventory items/materials are issued to the appropriate account upon removal from inventory.
• Maintaining and filing inventory records per Company records retention policy.
• Participating in scheduled warehouse inventories at all Company warehouse facilities. Working cooperatively with accounting, internal and external auditors in the inventory and audit process.
• Developing and maintaining business relationships with external vendors and working with external service providers on material needs and pricing.
• Developing and maintaining effective working relationships between Warehouse Operations and other functional areas within the organization.
• Monitoring operational policies and procedures specific to the Warehouse function.
• Become proficient working with manual and/or automated inventory control systems. Assists as necessary during maintenance and upgrades of inventory control systems.
• Assists with over-the-counter sales of materials and records keeping.
• Performs required duties associated with storm restoration. To include working outside of normal scheduled hours.
• Leads departmental safety meetings as assigned.
• Becomes familiar with safely operating fork trucks and other warehouse equipment.
• Fills in for Supervisor, Supply Chain during vacations and assists with other work as requested.
• Becomes familiar with and assists with proper storage, records keeping and proper disposal of universal waste, hazardous waste and oil spill debris.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Complies with all environmental regulations and procedures including, but not limited to, spill reporting and response, waste management, oil spill prevention, transportation of hazardous materials.
• Assists in development and maintenance of Stockroom O&M and Capital budgets.
• Develops and maintains proficiency using personal computers, Microsoft Office Products and Oracle Financial System.
• Becomes familiar with Line Construction, Transformers, Electrical and DG terminology, inventory part and their use.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED OR PREFERRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• High School education or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in warehouse operations preferred.
• Supervisory experience beneficial.
• Effective communication, writing, analytical and organizational skills required.
• Excellent leadership skills required.
• CDL License, Class B and Fork Truck Operator Certificate preferred. Will train the right candidate. Participates in random drug and alcohol testing.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Position requires substantial sitting, and moderate standing, walking, crouching and climbing.
• Occasional exposure to weather extremes of heat, cold, humidity, and inclement weather.
• May be exposed to chemicals and respiratory irritants.
• Position requires lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Position requires excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Position requires excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Position may require irregular hours.

RATE OF PAY:

Salary Level is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
