Vertex Brand is Hiring a New Business Program Manager, Platform Systems Integration Near Huntsville, AL

V2X is seeking a New Business Program Manager (PM) supporting the Platform Systems Integration (PSI) team of the Modernization and Sustainment business unit. The PM leads a dynamic and multidiscipline development team(s) within the PSI product line. In this role, the individual will engage customers, identify solutions, and develop new business opportunities.

This leader establishes the vision for the program team and inspires the team to exceed program objectives. The successful candidate will provide oversight to ensure adherence to program schedules, costs, milestones and technical performance, prepare corrective action plans for technical and schedule issues, and coordinate proposal preparation. The PM will be accountable for achieving all internal financial goals including profit and loss, supporting process improvement initiatives, and ensuring compliance to all applicable policies and procedures. The PM will be responsible to the customer to deliver compliant solutions or services. The PM will work closely with aviation and ground customers across all service areas (USA, USAF, USMC, USN) to ensure programmatic concerns are addressed in a timely manner and foster a strong working relationship. The specific position focuses on support of development programs where strong engineering development background is key.

We are seeking a strategically and growth experienced individual to support new business activities including lead development, solution development, captures, proposals, and long-term strategy in conjunction within the Platform System Integration domain. This leadership position requires collaboration across all entities external and internal. The individual supports the PSI strategy to actively pursue and grow our presence in existing and adjacent markets. This role will require a seasoned and accomplished leader with substantial business development and operational expertise along with a demonstrated record of winning new business.

As required, the PM will lead/perform the following tasks:

  • Develop customer, competitor, and market understanding and relationships across USG and industry customers.
  • Conduct primary and secondary research to determine customer needs and generate business leads by building relationships and identifying and qualifying new opportunities.
  • Develop and implement multi-level and multi-dimensional customer contact plans.
  • Use consultative selling techniques to better understand customer desires and work with solutions development teams to create customer-centric solutions.
  • Analyze customer information and develop customer hot buttons, key performance parameters, and opportunity price-to-win.
  • Leverage capabilities of multiple functions and customer access to create, identify, develop and qualify opportunities.
  • Develop initial opportunity capture strategy and conduct a smooth transition of opportunity to capture manager.
  • Work closely with capture managers to provide customer knowledge and strategic support for capture and proposal process.
  • Work closely with other program managers to provide customer knowledge and strategic support for executing programs.
  • Support assigned business leader for new business.
  • Conduct internal and external customer briefings.
  • Position will require 25-50% domestic travel.

Required Skills:

  • Eight (8) or more years of relevant work experience in the defense industry.
  • Four (4) or more years demonstrated successful new business/growth experience.
  • Experience leading new business and/or capture teams.
  • Entrepreneurially minded individual with demonstrated experience growing and executing a successful business, program and/or leadership of teams.
  • Demonstrated innovative ‘out of the box’ thinking to support business objectives.
  • Sound ethical values built upon trust, respect and ‘doing the right thing’.
  • Effective oral, written, listening and computer skills to develop and present narratives and briefings using Microsoft Office.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with and communicate with multiple levels of management and individual contributors on teams.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite of tools.
  • Must be a US Citizen with ability to obtain a DoD Secret level clearance.

Desired Skills:

  • Four (4) or more years of successful Department of Defense (DoD) government or industry acquisition experience.
  • Specifically examples of leading/generating new business opportunities with USG acquisition customers or Defense Industry Primes.
  • Experience and understanding of the DoD 5000 lifecycle model, DoD uniform/civilian acquisition experience, and DoD development processes.
  • Experience on DoD Internal Research and Development (IRAD, Customer Research and Development (CRAD), Technical Demonstration (TD), System Development and Demonstration (SDD) or Engineering, Manufacturing, & Development (EMD) Programs.
  • Experience with weapon systems or special mission military platforms, architectures, capabilities, customers, and/or missions.
  • Master’s Degree or other graduate degree.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or eight (8) years of additional work experience in lieu of degree.
