Coordinator (Contractor), Cell and Gene Therapy Commercial Supply Chain – Commercial Manufacturing & Supply Chain, Vertex Pharmaceuticals (Boston)
The Coordinator of Cell and Gene Therapy Commercial Supply Chain will be responsible for the raw material consumption and transaction coordination in support of the Cell and Gene Therapy Supply Chain. The Coordinator will apply technical proficiency to understand the manufacturing process, research consumption and utilize computer systems to transact. The Coordinator will also perform various duties to enable the procurement and movement of material such as placing POs, initiating movement transactions and other needed support. The Coordinator will work closely with key stakeholders including SC material planners, Finance, Logistics, QA, MSAT and Manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
Become proficient in reading manufacturing batch records and articulating the process to others
Be able to identify material consumption and the drivers of variances as they occur
Proficiently transact material consumption in OPM and complete drug product and finished manufacturing batches
Support Commercial CGT Material planners in evaluating variable needs and intricacies related to multiple contract manufacturers
Proactively communicate timeline delays, potential errors in documentation and roadblocks to completion of team tasks.
Support Commercial CGT Material planners in monthly inventory reconciliation and KPI generation
Works with senior Supply Chain and Quality staff to conduct transactions for material creation, movement and use in Vertex’s material management system
Assess future system needs and support SC system evolution
Support senior supply chain staff on various project charters such as raw material planning (including risk assessments and mitigation plans), and business continuity initiatives.
Support implementing new processes and capabilities needed to support Cell and Gene Therapy programs by drafting and/or revising planning SOP’s
Coordinates with external contract manufacturing partners for the collection and review of inventory reports for Vertex materials. Prepares Vertex inventory summaries as required.
Responsible for handling accountability and destruction of rejected, returned or unusable materials
 
Minimal Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a scientific or business discipline preferred, or equivalent years of relevant experience
Ability to analyze straightforward problems and develop possible solutions using technical experience and judgment; may escalate unusual or complex problems
Ability to effectively balance customer expectations with internal/team expectations
Ability to apply conceptual knowledge of supply chain methods/theories while acquiring deeper knowledge of applicable regulations (e.g., GMP. GCP, Part 11)
Works effectively across departments and levels, building and maintaining productive relationships
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Strong ability to manage own work load and lead/guide others on the team
Strong written and verbal communication skills to exchange relevant, and at times complex, information cross-functionally and ensuring understanding
Prior experience in the pharmaceutical industry preferred
 
Pay Range:
$30-$34/HR
