General Summary of Work of the Cook:Works under the direction and supervision of the Director of Culinary Services, in the preparation, serving and storage of meals in accordance with printed menus, standardized recipes, special dietary requirements and state/federal and local regulations.
Principle Tasks of the Cook:Essential Functions
  • Preparation of daily meals according to menu plan, and in compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Able to manage portion control, ensuring proper preparation of select foods to meet individual need
  • Demonstrates close attention to detail
  • Demonstrates organizational skills
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of regulatory requirements as related to food preparation, serving, delivery and storage
  • Demonstrates competency with maintaining kitchen safety and infection control principles
  • Able to communicate appropriately with a diverse group of individuals including residents, family members, facility staff and persons from outside the organization
QUALIFICATIONS of the Cook:
  • At least one year of applicable experience is preferred
  • Current knowledge of job-related state and federal regulations
  • Must be capable of regular attendance
  • Must meet all local health regulations, including criminal background investigation and reference inquiry
  • Serv Safe Certification preferred
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation
