Job DescriptionPosition: Senior Commercial Loan Review Analyst III
Location: Jersey City, NJ 07302
Duration: Direct Hire/ Permanent
Hybrid: 2-3 days onsite a weekTeam/Role Overview:Review & evaluate Multifamily & CRE mortgage portfolios & loans as collateral by member banks. The process involves a review of loan documents including appraisal reports, property income & expense statements, Notes, Mortgages, title Insurance policies and other documents to determine if loan meets pledge eligibility criteria. Position also involves the review and evaluation of member banks lending policies, procedures and components of financial filings. Requires interacting with senior management of member banks. Also requires travel.
Skills And Experience
  • Must have experience in Commercial Real Estate lending.
  • Experience in the following is required: Minimum 2 years of commercial and multifamily real estate underwriting or appraisal, within the NY/NJ market.
  • Must have knowledge of real estate related loan documents and regulatory compliance.
  • Loan review experience is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and organization skills.
  • PC literacy in spreadsheets, word processing and data base applications.
  • Intermediate skills with Excel.
  • Valid State Driver's License required.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform all functions related to the review & evaluation of Multifamily & CRE mortgage loans and portfolios pledged to the FHLBNY. The due diligence process will include a review of Credit documents including appraisal reports, property income & expense reports, etc. Analyst will prepare a cash-flow analysis on a loan-by-loan basis as needed. The due diligence process also includes a review of loan Collateral documentation including Notes, Mortgages, Title Insurance Policies, etc.
  • Analyst will review & evaluate member banks commercial real estate lending policies, procedures and asset management practices.
  • Loan & portfolio reviews may involve travel up to 50% of the time. Travel to member bank locations may include air, rail, rental car or driving one's own vehicle. The method of transportation is typically governed by cost-effectiveness. Overnight stays of 3-4 consecutive nights are common, longer if needed. Employee must be able to travel any time of the year. Travel is primarily in New York State and New Jersey, and occasionally Puerto Rico and other US destinations.
  • Act as Lead Analyst or participate as Analyst in the review of members' commercial real estate mortgage collateral, ensuring compliance with the Bank's credit and collateral policies, operating standards, procedures, guidelines and FHFA Regulations and Advisory Bulletins.
  • Evaluate components of members reported financial data.
  • As Lead Analyst prepare a summary report of review findings, and recommendation for an adjustment to risk margin being applied.
  • Interact with senior management of member banks during portfolio reviews.
  • Manage workflow and perform timely follow-ups to issues identified during reviews.
  • Participate in management meetings when necessary, presenting review results and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with other departments and assist members to improve electronic data submissions.
  • Perform review & analysis of loans $25 million and greater, then prepare written recommendation of loan acceptance or denial.
  • Maintain working knowledge of Commercial Real Estate credit guidelines and legal documentation requirements.
  • Collaborate with legal department as needed to evaluate participation/syndication agreements, and other documents to determine impact to eligibility and perfection of security interest.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop enhancements to review process and associated policies & procedures, data capture tools and supporting systems and testing thereof.
  • Maintain proficiency with industry standards, federal regulations, policies, internal procedures and other compliance requirements that govern or impact the types of pledged collateral.
  • Cross train on residential 1-4 family review process.
