Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) Mobility, Surveillance, & Bombers (MS&B) has an exciting opportunity for a Wire Design & Installation Engineering Manager in Tukwila, WA.
As the leader of a MS&B Wire Design & Installation Engineering team you will be working in a highly dynamic team environment developing and maintaining wire bundle and installation designs for new development, production factory support, mod kit development, and fleet support issues. This position is specifically focused on wiring integration between design and installation. As a result, understanding the value-stream of wiring from the systems requirements handoff through wire bundle fabrication will be critical.
While this position is to support the MS&B division, the selected candidate will be supporting the USAF E-7A as their first assignment. The E-7A is the world’s most advanced, capable, and reliable Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) platform, having proven itself in operations around the world. The aircraft is designed to track multiple airborne and maritime targets simultaneously. It can provide situational awareness and direct other assets such as fighter jets and warships.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Leads, develops, and motivates employees performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Wire Design Engineering.
  • Responsible for cost account management activities.
  • Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers, and leads process improvements.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports.
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes.
  • Develops and maintains a culture of seeking to understand, courage to speak up, active listening, and servant leadership to manage, develop and motivate employees.
  • Reports progress and elevates issues to senior management as required.
  • Partners successfully with other organizations such as Mission Systems, Operations, Structures, Production Engineering, and Supply Chain.
This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at the listed location. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite four days per week in Tukwila and potentially all five depending on program need.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Additional Qualifications/ResponsibilitiesBasic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 5 years of experience in the aerospace industry.
  • 1 years of experience leading teams in a formal and /or informal leadership role.
  • Willing to travel up to 10% of your time.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Strong organization and communication skills.
  • 5 years of experience with wire design or wire installation.
  • 5 years of experience with systems engineering and/or integration of complex hardware and wiring.
  • Experience collaborating and integrating various functional groups such as manufacturing, engineering, and supplier management.
  • Experience with implementing/managing to the Electrical Design Integration Maturity Phase process.
  • Experience supporting wiring on commercial derivative aircraft.
  • Experience with wiring part, materials, and processes on commercial derivative aircraft.
  • Experience supporting technical supplier management for wiring fabrication.
  • Experience supporting FAA and military certification on commercial derivative aircraft.
  • Previous experience as a first-line manager.
