VHB is Hiring a Transportation Planner/Engineer Near Orlando, FL

Overview:

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHBs Orlando, FL office is seeking a Transportation Planner or Civil Engineer to join their Project Development & Environment (PD&E) group. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic team, across diverse disciplines, giving you exposure to a wide variety of projects in size and scope.

Responsibilities

  • Work within a team of professionals in developing Project Development & Environment (PD&E) studies, PD&E documents, transportation planning studies, corridor studies, and transportation master and action plans
  • Occasional field data collection
  • Assist with development of support materials for public involvement activities, organizing public meeting logistics, and attending public meetings
  • Support with authorship of project-related documentation for a range of transportation planning and environment studies, demographic analyses, and multi-modal / transit-oriented projects
  • Read and write summaries of large documents
  • Prepare, edit and summarize technical reports and analyses.
  • Document management for numerous project documents.
  • Conduct planning assessments using analytical tools such as GIS to evaluate data, identify trends, and develop documentation to summarize results
  • Attend client meetings and provide meeting summary of items discussed
  • Organize work plans and weekly monitoring of progress on tasks and activities

Skills and Attributes

  • Strong Organizational skills to manage multiple reports for multiple projects
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Very strong writing skills with experience in writing technical report documents
  • Team-oriented with strong capability to work independently
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A strong work ethic with the desire to learn and achieve
  • The ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Occasional travel to client meetings and presentations

Qualifications

  • Candidates must have a BS in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or related field
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years experience
  • 5-8 years experience preferred
  • Demonstrated experience working on FDOT PD&E projects
  • Experience with FDOTs Statewide Environmental Project Tracker (SWEPT) is preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Project, FDOTs Environmental Screening Tool, and ESRI GIS applications desired
