Job Title: VP, Marketing & Communications

Reports to: CXO
Location: Hybrid, commutable to NYC
Salary range: $183K to $210K*
*New hires are typically brought into the organization between the minimum to midpoint of the salary range posted depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role.

Position Overview:

The Vice President, Marketing & Communications serves as a key member of the senior leadership team and is responsible for leading the communications and marketing team for this fast-paced, mission-driven, non-profit agency. Reporting to the CXO & Head of Brand, he/she/they will play a key role in helping to position the Organization for continued strategic growth with consistent messaging and development strategies. The VP, Marketing and Communications is responsible for working with both internal and external stakeholders to create and implement marketing and communications activities that amplifies the organization's mission, supports fundraising and new business development, and raises awareness of our programmatic impact.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Strategic Communications and Brand Building

  • Develop and implement an integrated communications and marketing plan that advances Vibrant's brand awareness, and magnifies its work and thought leadership toward positive brand association in the mental health sector

  • Direct the branding of new and updated programs, products and services

  • Guide the organization's ongoing web design and content, search engine optimization strategies and tactics, online and social media initiatives, blog, and podcasts, including the development of communications content

Marketing, Advertising & Creative

  • Direct all aspects of the Vibrant marketing strategy, including integrated marketing campaigns to meet revenue targets, advertising, search, and social media to generate qualified leads for sales and partnerships

  • Ensure development of attractive & effective collateral materials and other advertising assets including email campaigns and sponsorship opportunities

  • Establish metrics, data capture methods, and reporting systems and routines to continually track advertising ROI and recommend upgrades

Market Research and Market Intelligence

  • Build out market intelligence capabilities to inform new program development and support sales opportunities/challenges

  • Guide ongoing research to understand the conditions, motivations and needs of Vibrant's key stakeholder audiences, and proactively share internally to inform program design and development

Leadership

  • Lead a team of at least 20 staff members and external partners to meet organizational goals and objectives; structure team to maximize effectiveness and efficiencies of overall communications and marketing activities

  • Build a positive team culture that centers continuous learning, and provides team members with ongoing feedback, development and support toward aligned performance expectations, deep collaboration and growth

  • Develop marketing and communications goals and budget management strategies ensuring that systems are in place to monitor progress towards performance expectations

  • Serve as a key organizational leader, contributing to Vibrant's overall strategic direction

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Evaluates risk factors with potential to disrupt achievement of strategic goals affecting large- scale or multiple programs and responds with corrective action.

  • Decisions have significant impact, requiring consultation with organizational leaders and external partners to determine appropriate solutions.

  • Consult with executive staff on long- term impact affecting departmental and/or organizational performance.

  • Approves decisions that commit financial and human resources to a course of action.

  • Strategic and tactical decision-making, subject to executive review.

Scope of Responsibility/Accountability:

  • Demonstrates and articulates strategic vision and direction in response to internal and external forces affecting the work environment.

  • Conceptualizes, implements and evaluates strategic business and program goals and objectives.

  • Establishes broad policies governing the organization, consistent with mission, values and best practices, and assures compliance.

  • Assures integration of strategies and shared outcomes.

  • Performance and outcomes are assessed by executive leadership.

Managing/Directing Work:

  • Plays a leadership role in translating the organization's vision and values into planning and goals

  • Shapes and interprets policy to create and reinforce an environment consistent with mission, values and best practices.

  • Directs and provides guidance in the development of long- term organizational strategic plans.

Job Knowledge

  • Translates multi- dimensional concepts and issues into understandable components.

  • Ability to lead multiple teams/critical program, with overlapping time constraints.

  • Applies deep understanding of professional principles and standards, a high degree of creativity, foresight and judgment and broad management skills in planning, organizing and guiding programs and activities of major consequence.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree required; advanced degree/credentials preferred.

  • 10-15 years of fundraising or nonprofit experience; management experience preferred.

  • Self-starter with strong leadership qualities, who can engage and collaborate professionally with all levels of staff, board members, and prospective donors.

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills; excellent listening skills.

  • Excellent writing, communication, and presenting/public speaking skills.

  • Organized and detail-oriented; ability to execute goals and delegate assignments.

  • Displays positive attitude, shows concern for humanity, and demonstrates presence, self-confidence, and common sense.

  • Superior interpersonal skills.

  • Bilingual (ENG/SPN) a plus.
