part-time Software Architect, Expert level, is needed for staff augmentation on the
Records Management System (RMS) effort. This role willl be critical in the configuration
of dozens of application and data interfaces connecting with the RMS system.
The selected candidate will work directly with the RMS vendor, New York State Office of
Information Technology Services (ITS) and the NYSP Project Team to connect and
syncronize interfaces which push and pull data from multiple sources, ensuring data for
reporting is accurate and available for mandatory reporting. Additionally, the candidate
will be tasked with replicating forms and workflows from legacy applications to the Niche
RMS system.
Makes high-level design choices and dictates technical standards, including software
coding standards, tools, and platforms. Designs multi-leveled architecture or component
interactions of a large scale software system.
Position Minimum Qualifications:
• 84 months of software development experience consisting of planning, designing
and implementing enterprise technology solutions
• 84 months experience working with users and business analysts on application
development based on business requirements, use cases and user stories
• 36 months experience configuring/analyzing interfaces between complex
applications.
• 36 months experience developing detailed system design documentation and
program specifications
36 months experience supporting a Records Management System (RMS).
• 36 months experience supporting a Public Safety entity (Police, Fire, Homeland
Security, Military)
Security Requirements --
Three (3) professional references are required for each candidate.
Candidate must pass NY State Police and NY State Public Safety Cluster background
investigation, including fingerprint check
Additional Information --
Both verbal and written knowledge transfer will be required on an ongoing basis.

Daily Tasks will include but are not limited to the following:

2. Work with New York State Police Business Units and the Office of Information
Technology Services (ITS) to document, review and analyze existing workflows,
processes, reports and documentation between the Records Management
System (RMS) and existing NYSP applications and connections

Work directly with NYSP Business Units, vendors and ITS to customize,
configure and test software releases in multiple environments
4.
Work directly with the project business analyst to ensure business requirements
are met in each software release
5.
Build and test replacement forms/modules in the RMS that exist in legacy NYSP
applications
Participate in status meetings and provide weekly updates to the project
manager
6.
Document system configurations to provide knowledge transfer to state staff to
implement and support the system
