About the Team

The Engineering Operations team consists of Project Management, Engineering Design, Engineering Laboratory, Global Regulatory Compliance, and Technical Publications. These teams synergistically support Engineering New Product, New Technology Initiatives, and Sustaining Engineering by continuously striving to accelerate time to market through continuous improvement.

About the Role

The Engineering Data Analyst will oversee gathering and reporting of data/information while ensuring the utmost in consistency, accuracy, and stability in executing of related efforts. All reporting must be created in a clear, concise, and digestible format with intent to lead continuous improvement of the organization. These efforts support/enable successful scheduling, reporting and resource management.

Responsibilities to include but not limited to:

  • Strive to understand business problems, structure data-driven solutions and define key metrics for solution assessment.
  • Frame problems to be solved analytically and own deliverables.
  • Develop high level alignment across departments by means of establishing, reporting, and maintaining Key Process Indicators (KPI) in areas, but not limited to:
  • Throughput/Efficiency/Ongoing Improvements
  • Full time equivalents relative to planning and execution of design initiatives.
  • Rework
  • Education/Training
  • Work with engineering leadership to establish the most effective use of Portfolio Project Management (PPM) software to further develop and maintain accurate reporting via dashboards, and analytic reports, e.g., required effort estimates, logged time, tasks composition/identification, ownership, dependencies, custom fields, tags, etc.
  • Master tools for leveraging KPI measurements to continually identify and reduce performance gaps with intent to implement automation where possible. Available tools include, but are not limited to:
  • PPM software
  • Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Microsoft Excel
  • Microsoft SharePoint development as a conduit for reports and visualizations
  • Qlik Sense data models, databases, dashboard visualizations, and active analytics to best engage end users for driving of improvement.
  • Python programming language
  • Create reports, visualizations, and web applications to translate technical insights to non-technical audiences and executive leadership.
  • Ensure coding as well as overall development best practices are implemented, e.g., naming conventions, file storage, etc.
  • Generate and analyze information that originates from the PPM software to provide insights into project progress, resource utilization, and potential bottlenecks.
  • Actively participate in audits and updates to existing processes and make suggestions where improvements may be beneficial.

Education, Qualifications, and Certifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in the study of Data Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, (applied) Mathematics, Information Systems, Operations Research.
  • Data Query/Scripting/Programing: Cleaning/ingesting/manipulating data with solid experience in use of SQL data query, and proficient scripting languages such as Python or other programing languages.
  • Microsoft Office Expertise: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential for data manipulation, analysis, and reporting tasks. Proficient in advanced Excel functions, writing of formulas, pivot tables, power query, power pivot, and data visualization techniques to extract meaningful insights.
  • Project Management Skills: Possess solid project management skills, including the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Analytical Skills: Proficient in data analysis and interpretation to generate meaningful insights from analytic reports. This includes the ability to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement within project data.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Effective communication and collaboration skills are essential for consulting with project teams, providing support, breaking down complex concepts clearly and concisely in both verbal and written format.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities to address technical issues and optimize processes.
  • Presentation and Training Skills: Strong presentation skills are necessary for effectively communicating project insights and recommendations to stakeholders using visual aids and reports.
  • Leadership/Influence: Demonstrate leadership qualities and the ability to influence others to adopt best practices and adhere to project management guidelines. They should lead by example, inspire confidence, and foster a culture of accountability.
