Victory Programs, Inc. is Hiring a Psychosocial Support Nutritionist Near Boston, MA

DescriptionThe Psychosocial Support Nutritionist is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of nutritional services at the Boston Living Center. The PSS Nutritionist will provide both individual and group nutrition education and counseling sessions, in collaboration with others within the Food and Nutritional Services Program. The PSS Nutritionist reports to the Food and Nutritional Services Manager for supervision and programmatic assignments.
Essential Functions
  • Act in accordance with Victory Programs’ Standards of Excellence at all times, including, maintaining professional ethics, boundaries and client confidentiality at all times.
  • Provide individual nutrition education and counseling sessions, including working with members to develop individualized nutrition plans to manage illness, medication side effects and promote wellness.
  • Provide recommendations to members regarding utilization of BLC nutritional programming, and make referrals to relevant community-based food and nutrition resources.
  • Coordinate and market nutritional programming for BLC members in the form of cooking classes, nutrition workshops and classes, bulletin boards, and nutrition education and promotional materials.
  • Engage members in the congregate meal setting at the BLC to promote nutrition programming and build positive relationships with members.
  • Collaborate with all BLC staff to form a member-centered interdisciplinary care team.
  • Work with the Food and Nutrition team to develop all menus for the BLC to assure appropriate nutritional content for an HIV/AIDS population and other priority populations, and assist in developing any menu modifications based on medical diagnosis and in support of symptom management.
  • Participate in the serving and preparation of the BLC daily meals when needed.
  • Participate in the delivery of the BLC food pantry and preparation of food pantry menu when needed.
  • Assist in projects related to monitoring and evaluation of nutrition programs.
  • Maintain open communication both written and verbal with the Food and Nutritional Services Manager and the BLC Program Director.
  • Collaborate with other AIDS services, community based and health care organizations to bring nutritional resources to the Boston Living Center.
  • Participate in weekly supervision with the Food and Nutritional Services Manager.
Non-Essential Functions
  • Attend weekly staff and clinical team meetings, in-service trainings and agency workshops.
  • Participate and support the agency in program events, State House rallies, fundraising and advocacy events, HIV/AIDS rally and walk and any additional functions.
  • Perform any other duty or task that may be requested from time to time by your supervisor.
Qualifications
  • BA / BS in public health, nutrition or related fields preferred.
  • or 2-3 years of relevant experience required.
  • Previous experience providing nutritional services to people living with HIV/AIDS is preferred.
  • Availability to work evenings.
  • Experience in nutritional counseling.
  • Experience in group facilitation.
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with partner agencies.
  • Proven ability to work with a diverse population.
  • Knowledge and understanding of HIV/AIDS and the Principles of Harm Reduction.
  • Must be able to lift 35 pounds.
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid ServSafe certification.
  • Current TB assessment and current CPR certification.
  • Three strong professional work references: 2 from a supervisor or manager.
Position Type: Full-Time Non-Exempt (40 hours) Monday-Friday. Some weekends and evenings are required.
Rate: $25.00/hr
