Description
Fall River Health Services is looking for a Resident Care Manager in Hot Springs SD . This person works in partnership with the Director of Nursing and is responsible for care planning, communicate, and managing resident care within Seven Sisters Living Center. In this role you will also Ensure quality nursing care is provided and maintained according to provider orders and state/federal regulations. Supervises and mentors caregivers according to FRHS policy. Communicates with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members ensuring resident care needs are known by each individual as required.
The Residents Care Manager provides leadership, organization, planning and direction for optimum resident care which is responsive to the needs of the residents, consistent with the established standards of nursing practice, in line with quality and operating goals of Fall River Health Services.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Supervises a team of Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Medication Aides, Nursing Assistants, and Health Unit Clerks in the long-term care setting.
  • Manages staff by assigning and delegating tasks as needed
  • Performs annual and "as needed" employee reviews. Provides constructive feedback on performance to meet organizational, personal and professional goals
  • Implements Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) and/or corrective action as needed
Responsibilities:
  • Organize, plan and communicate resident care needs within the long-term care facility.
  • Displays leadership and assumes accountability to provide direction and coordination of nursing care and adequate staffing with cooperation from professional staff and the DON.
  • Directly supervises, hires, terminates, and evaluates work performance, Develops subordinates by direct teaching, coaching, guidance, and by recognizing needs for staff development.
  • Investigates/resolves complaints of subordinates, residents, visitors, ancillary departments, and medical staff through direct action or referral to the appropriate individuals as well as facilitating physician and staff interaction.
  • Assess resident cares, reviews current and past records, completes various data collection tools, reviews incident reports and works collaboratively with the DON and outside entities on Long Term Care Quality Improvement Initiatives.
  • Meets regularly with the DON to discuss policies, procedures, standards, personnel management, and resident care needs. Identifies and researches nursing service concerns and assists with their resolution. Assists with the preparation and maintenance of annual budget, equipment, and staffing required for delivery of quality resident care in a cost effective manner
  • Collaborates with patient/family/staff/other health care disciplines in a professional, therapeutic and cooperative manner to contribute to a positive work environment and aid in health promotion, maintenance, restoration, and overall rehabilitation. Encourages staff development and professional growth and provides necessary support to the nursing staff to ensure staff is able to deliver quality care to the resident and meet his/her needs.
  • In collaboration with the quality assurance department, the nurse manager maintains and oversees a quality assurance program throughout all areas of responsibility supervised; to ensure that accurate and prompt services are provided.
  • Responds to state survey findings in a proactive, positive and problem solving manner, deficiencies are addressed through process, system reviews and/or direct intervention to ensure compliance.
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned on occasion, based upon facility needs or requirements.
Skills/Abilities:
  • To work as needed in providing health and wellness services to the community; complete forms and records, and monitor budget, maintain confidentiality of all work information as it relates to HIPAA & resolve conflicts within imaging department in a professional manner.
  • Have basic computer skills and ability to learn various programs such as Windows and Excel.
  • Visual and auditory ability to assess patient conditions and to administer effective care using standard nurse practices
  • Knowledge of clinical nursing with the manual dexterity to perform nursing skills as follows, but not limited to: administering injections, inserting catheters, starting IVs, administering IV solutions, physical assessments, emergency care and FRHS required nursing documentation.
  • The ability to verbally communicate and problem solve effectively with patients, staff, physicians and ancillary departments
  • The physical agility to respond in a quick manner and in accordance with established facility practice regarding unexpected patient safety needs
Education and Experience:
  • Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university preferred, or be a graduate of an approved RN program. Must have thorough nursing care experience to include direct patient care, with previous management responsibilities
  • Technical Skills: The incumbent must possess a broad understanding of effective managerial, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Other qualifications/certificate/license: The incumbent must possess a current, unencumbered professional nurse's license from the State of South Dakota.
The average range for this position is $35.00- $41.00/hour depending on years of experience.
Requirements
Education commensurate with requirements of licensure. Must currently hold an active unencumbered license within the State of South Dakota; OR Have a temporary permit allowing you to practice in the State of South Dakota; OR Have applied for a South Dakota RN licensure by endorsement; OR Are a new graduate who is in the process of taking your RN exam.
