Division/Department/Program: Centerville Outpatient Center

View Point Health is a community behavioral health center utilizing a team of psychiatrists, nurses, licensed counselors and social workers, as well as other professionals to provide services to individuals who need treatment and support to cope with mental illness, substance abuse, and intellectual and developmental disabilities. View Point Health serves uninsured, underinsured, low-income Medicaid, Medicare, war veterans and some private insurance across multiple locations with a full continuum of behavioral health services and support.

The Behavioral Health Team Leader is the working supervisor for a team of clinicians, med providers &/or paraprofessionals staff providing mental health &/or addictive disease treatment services. In addition to providing direct therapy services to clients and families the Team Lead provides day-to-day oversight, administrative leadership and supervision to subordinate staff, including service plan and documentation reviews for conformity to agency and payer requirements. Appropriately interprets, implements, and enforces compliance with agency policies and procedures and safety regulations.

Supervises, guides, and/or instructs the work assignments of subordinate staff. Supervises and directs the clinical activities of a comprehensive behavioral health program. Performs psychosocial assessments, treatment planning/monitoring and discharge planning. Provides counseling/therapy to clients requiring complex intervention. Performs commitment determinations and/or executes orders of involuntary commitments.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Direct Clinical Care & Case Management 

  • Provides professional Evidenced-Based therapeutic services to persons with mental illness and/or addictive disease.
  • Arranges appointment schedule at optimal intervals to maximize use of work time.
  • Conducts face-to-face comprehensive assessment to identify problems and service needs.
  • Provides individual, family or group therapeutic counseling and/or educational and skill development sessions as indicated in the service plan.
  • Monitors client progress and compliance with the service plan.

Crisis Management

  • Provides crisis intervention services to existing and walk-in clients as needed.
  • May provide on-call, after-hours services on a rotational schedule.
  • Assesses consumer’s need for emergency admission certification.
  • Executes the legal forms required to refer the client to an emergency receiving facility for evaluation of the need for involuntary commitment to a hospital or crisis intervention facility.
  • Arranges transfer of the client to the receiving facility.

Clinical Documentation

  • Writes individual service plans that meet Medicaid, insurer, CARF, and other required standards for diagnoses, content, justifications for treatment, evidence of client input, and treatment time frames.
  • Writes service plans that are clear, concise, complete, grammatically correct, timely, and properly coded. Secures or provides necessary signatures required to secure authorization for services.
  • Follows all Medicaid, state, insurer, and other regulations related to the credentials required to provide authorized services.
  • Writes timely progress notes that relate directly to the treatment outcomes described in the service plan. Assembles, analyzes, and interprets new/updated information about the client in order to reassess treatment needs.
  • Identifies unmet needs, reviews available resources, and modifies the treatment plan as indicated.
  • Requests treatment authorizations and re-authorizations within required time frames.
  • Provides and bills only those client services that are authorized in the service plan.

Case Mgmt, Referrals, Collateral & Treatment Team Contacts

  • May serve as case manager to facilitate and ensure communication, linkage, and continuity of care between clients, physicians, other organizational components, community resources and service providers.
  • Establishes linkages and coordination of services with community agencies.
  • Develops and maintains cooperative working relationships with community service providers.
  • Informs clients and families of the availability of community advocacy and support groups.

Outpatient After-hours Call Rotation

  • Clinicians are expected to assist in coverage of after-hours outpatient client calls via phone only.
  • Rotations are for one week and the frequency of rotation is dependent on the amount of staff covering the calls. An additional supplement is provided to staff that cover a weekly shift.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree from an accredited college or university AND licensure in the area of assignment AND Three years of experience in the provision of therapeutic services with, one year of which in a supervisory role OR Master's degree from an accredited college or university AND licensure in the area of assignment AND Three years of experience at the lower-level Social Worker, Licensed 3 (HCP052) or position equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One (1)year of supervisory experience
  • Experience with CareLogic or other ECR/EMR
  • At least two (2) years of experience working in Community Mental Health Care with SPMI, SED, MH & SUD.
  • Bilingual - ability to read, write, and speak in Spanish and English

Requirements/Competencies:

  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
  • Requires long periods of sitting/standing.
  • Must have valid Georgia driver’s license and Motor Vehicle Record in accordance with company policy.
  • Candidates for selection must pass a criminal background check (including fingerprinting).
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and subject to random drug screens.
  • Any combination of training and experience, which would have enabled the applicant to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities Note: Some positions may require a valid driver's license.
  • Other duties as assigned.
