Overview:

West Main Taproom and Grill is seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Manager with a strong background in bar operations. The ideal candidate will be passionate about the hospitality industry, have excellent leadership skills, and a proven track record in managing bar and restaurant operations. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our establishment, delivering exceptional service, and driving business growth.

Key Responsibilities

1. Bar and Beverage Management:

  • Oversee daily bar operations, including inventory management, ordering supplies, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Develop and implement bar menus, including seasonal cocktails and specialty drinks, ensuring a diverse and appealing beverage selection.
  • Train and supervise bar staff, ensuring high standards of service, product knowledge, and professionalism.
  • Monitor bar performance metrics and implement strategies to increase sales and customer satisfaction.

2. Leadership and Staff Management:

  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, and training front-of-house staff, including servers, bartenders, and hosts.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and support to staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Schedule and manage staff shifts, ensuring adequate coverage during peak hours and events.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.

3. Customer Service Excellence:

  • Maintain a visible presence on the floor, interacting with guests to ensure a high level of satisfaction.
  • Address and resolve customer complaints promptly and effectively.
  • Promote a culture of exceptional service, ensuring that all team members understand and uphold our service standards.

4. Operational Management:

  • Assist the General Manager in overseeing all aspects of restaurant operations, including budgeting, financial reporting, and cost control.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
  • Implement and maintain standard operating procedures to optimize efficiency and consistency.
  • Manage daily cash handling, reconciliation, and financial reporting.

5. Marketing and Promotions:

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and execute promotional activities and events.
  • Utilize social media and other marketing channels to engage with customers and promote the bar and restaurant.
  • Analyze market trends and customer feedback to identify opportunities for improvement and growth.

Other Responsibilities:

- Assist the General Manager in overseeing daily operations of the restaurant
- Manage kitchen staff and ensure quality food service
- Help with inventory management and ordering supplies
- Support in training and supervising staff members
- Collaborate with the management team to enhance customer experience
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management or related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in a managerial role within the hospitality industry, with a strong focus on bar operations.
  • Skills:
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of bar and beverage operations, including mixology and inventory management.
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in point-of-sale (POS) systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
