Village of Waterford is Hiring an Utilities Clerk Near Waterford, WI

The part-time position of Utilities Clerk reports to the Public Works and Utilities Director managing utility billing functions for the Village of Waterford water/sewer utilities.

Essential Job Functions

§ Prepare and process quarterly billing for utilities.

§ Prepare and process bulk water billing, as necessary.

§ Coordinate with Admin Clerk on processing incoming utility payments (cash, checks, credit card/online)

§ Coordinate with Admin Clerk/Treasurer to process returned payments

§ Balance cash drawer and transactions

§ Assist Admin Clerk to prepare and process annual delinquent billing notices; prepare final list for Tax Roll transfer

§ Maintain utility billing software data; including, but not limited to, setting up new accounts, monitoring high/low usage readings.

§ Scheduling and setting up meter installs and entering in billing program.

§ Scheduling and setting final reads and new account owner information.

§ Respond to telephone and electronic communication from residents with questions or complaints.

§ Maintain filing system for the utility department.

§ Assist Public Works Director with reports, as necessary.

§ Prepare public information materials, as necessary.

Knowledge & Skills

§ Follow verbal and written instructions

§ Work effectively and timely to analyze and resolve issues

§ Strong attention to detail

§ Effectively communicate in both written and verbal format with residents, colleagues, vendors, and others

§ Courteous customer service Skills

§ Basic computer use; office programs (excel and word), Google platform (email, calendars), billing software

§ Ability to handle money transactions accurately and efficiently

Preferred Qualifications:

§ Working knowledge of accounting software

§ Prior experience cashiering, accounting, or similar role

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Some travel between department buildings may be necessary.

Work is performed mostly in office settings. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate computers and various office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, walk, talk, hear, use hands to feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to stoop, kneel or crouch.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Hours of Work & Compensation

§ This position is part-time, working 20-24 hours per week.

§ The ideal candidate will be available three days per week 8:30-4:30

§ Starting hourly rate is $23-$25 per hour

§ Some flexibility in days/hours may be necessary during a bill cycle or other time sensitive functions.
