Description
The JAG Specialist is responsible for identifying, recruitment and instructing at-risk youth in achieving skills to be promoted to the next grade level, achieving graduation, and / or making a successful transition from school to a career with advancement opportunities.
The employee is responsible for fully implementing the Job’s for America’s Graduates (JAG) model in an assigned school and achieving process standards and performance goals including the summer months.
In addition to case load and performance goals the JAG Specialist is responsible for all data entry in the state JAG and Indiana Career Connect systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provides appropriate curriculum and ensures students achieve specific JAG competencies though classroom instruction; teaches through a variety of methods including lecture, hands-on activities, and team teaching;
tailors the program and teaching methods for the needs of each specific student, and implements an intervention strategy for each individual using and Individualized Development Plan.
Ensures an appropriate pool of students by directly recruiting student, and obtaining referrals from an in-school Advisory Committee consisting of school personnel;
holds interviews with prospective candidates and those making referrals to determine, using JAG guidelines, the appropriateness of the prospective student for the program.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree desired, Associate’s Degree or eight years experience in the area of employment and training programs, employer relations, social work, economic development or related fields.
Individual must be detailed orientated and able to compile reports. Position requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel by both public transportation as well as private transportation including self-transportation
