Virgin Australia is Hiring a Head of Business Development Near Sydney, FL

Hello. We’re Virgin Australia. And we’re back (in a big way).

We’re the airline that’s always done things a little different. Our way. The Virgin way. For us, flying is so much more than simply taking off and landing (although we understand that is quite important). It’s about going the extra mile, in the air and on the ground, to create authentic experiences that put our guests firmly at the heart of everything we do.

What you’ll be doing:

As the Head of Business Development at Virgin Australia, you will lead our Corporate Business Development initiatives, driving the development of medium and long-term strategies for our corporate acquisition and partner portfolios.

Your role will involve crafting tactical and programmatic initiatives to deliver incremental value, as well as developing risk management processes to adapt to changing market conditions.

You will be the “Corporate acquisition go-to person” and will inspire and drive team engagement and excellence, ensuring that Virgin Australia’s corporate market share continues to grow while our commercial offerings remain competitive and aligned with evolving market conditions.

Other key responsibilities will include:

  • Virgin Australia’s Corporate figurehead for new business
  • Lead Corporate acquisition portfolio activities and initiatives to expand Virgin Australia’s Corporate market share
  • Drive sales performance within a matrix organisation
  • Develop strategic relationships with key TMC partners to maximise revenue/market share potential
  • Oversee the timely & accurate management of corporate customer records for all Corporate & Government customers in CRM
  • Develop detailed, partner-specific commercial bids to secure large corporate acquisitions (Business Development)
  • Design tactical and programmatic initiatives that serve to deliver accretive value for Virgin Australia.
  • Develop strategic relationships with key airline partners to maximise revenue potential
  • Proactively manage customer and prospect relationships to gain, retain, and grow national footprint.
  • Create and drive the vision and strategy for growing Virgin Australia sales team, and scale day-to-day operations;
  • Representing Virgin Australia at national events to drive Corporate business.

You’ll be great in this role if you have:

  • Minimum 10 years sales leadership / B2B business development experience
  • Significant knowledge of contract negotiation and Acquisition tender processes (new business)
  • You are resilient and have the capacity to challenge and influence whilst remaining focused on growing a sustainable business
  • Exceptional negotiation skills and the ability to engage at the most senior levels within Corporate partners
  • Proven extensive network of Corporate & travel contacts and ability to build and develop strong relationships at an Executive level
  • Outstanding knowledge of the Australian Corporate travel (B2B) market
  • Prior experience in developing detailed business plans that deliver positive ROI
