The Certified Pharmacy Technician is responsible for filling and preparing patient medications under the direct supervision of a pharmacist and in accordance with state and federal regulations. The pharmacy technician performs data entry, initial insurance verification/benefit investigation, order fulfillment, patient refill assessments, and inventory management. This position is in constant communication with patients, physicians, nursing staff, patient financial counselors, and third-party payers.
Must have working knowledge basic of computer processing, medical terminology, arithmetic and insurance; Must be able to make and answer telephone calls from patients; will communicate to the pharmacist or physician team any medication issues that may impact receipt of medication.
Organizational and problem-solving skills are essential; must be highly self-motivated, self-directed, and attentive to detail; able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
The candidate must be an independent thinker; have excellent interpersonal skills; be able to multi-task, exhibit self-confidence and remain calm under pressure; must be autonomous and be able to make decisions systematically; demonstrate a reliable work ethic, a positive attitude and a strong desire to achieve.
