The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology is in search of a part-time Lab Technician to join Dr. Lasek's lab. Position Summary: The chosen candidate will work part-time performing rat and mouse studies of alcoholconsumption. Additionally, the candidate will perform histological procedures, suchas immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization on rat and mouse brains. Other jobsinclude but are not limited to:
Ordering supplies
Inventory and maintenance oflaboratory supplies
Routine maintenance of laboratory equipment
Monitoringand disposal of biohazardous materials and chemical hazards
Organizationof the laboratory environment
Core Responsibilities: 1.) Ratand mouse studies of alcohol consumption 2.) Perform tissueprocessing, immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, and microscopy 3.) Generallab management:
bookkeeping for all lab materials including chemical and animal inventories
placeorder for supplies for all lab personnel
responsiblefor IACUC and chemical inspections
attendingDAR and chemical training and meetings
routinemaintenance of lab equipment
Minimum Hiring Standards:
Bachelor's degree in Biology or related field is required
Experience working with laboratory animals (mice and/or rats) isrequired
Performing tissue histology and microscopy is preferred
