Virginia Commonwealth University is Hiring an Open Rank Faculty OB/GYN Generalist - SOM (F73050) Near Richmond, VA

Mission or Goal of Unit: The mission of the Obstetrics and Gynecologydepartment is to provide the highest quality clinical care in both general andspecialty Obstetrics and Gynecology to central Virginia. In addition to theclinical mission, the department has the allied goals of providingundergraduate and graduate medical education in the field and advancing thefield through basic and clinical research.
The Department iscommitted to enhance diversity among its faculty, staff, and students. Departmentfaculty have a responsibility to provide service to their profession and to theUniversity Community.
Chief Purpose of this position: TheDepartment of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking qualified candidates toprovide specialty care in General Obstetrics and Gynecology at VCU Health. Thisposition is designed to provide care primarily in general Obstetrics andGynecology, including surgery, in- and outpatient consultation and performanceof therapeutic procedures. This position will include participation in studentand resident education as well as in the department's clinical research activities.
Position Responsibilities:
Teaching
Thefaculty member will have teaching responsibilities to include activelyparticipating in the department's educational activities, with particularattention to educating students and residents in their core educationalobjectives in general obstetrics and gynecology.
Research
Theperson filling this position is encouraged to initiate clinical researchprojects. They are expected to participate in and facilitate other departmentresearch and contribute to scholarly publications/presentations.
Service
Thefaculty member will serve on departmental, health system, and universitycommittees as necessary, as well as in a professional capacity in their field.The faculty member will be assigned to committees at the discretion of thedivision director and department chair.
Clinical
Fullparticipation in the clinical activities of the general obstetrics andgynecology division is expected. Clinical activities are to be determined bythe general obstetrics and gynecology division head and are expected to includea combination of clinic, inpatient care, surgery, and participation innighttime call duties as appropriate.
Other
Thefaculty member will participate in department and institutional administrativeactivities as assigned by the division head and the department chair.
Required Qualifications:
  • Completion of training in OB/GYN residency program
  • Current Virginia medical license or eligibility for license
  • Potential for scholarship or creative expression to complement and expand existing expertise in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Completion of an ACGME accredited OB/GYN residency
  • Demonstrated talent and experience in teaching and commitment to research, and patient care
  • BC/BE by the American Board of OB/GYN
