TheLucas Lab (https://chemistry.vcu.edu/bios/heather-lucas/) within the Department ofChemistry at Virginia Commonwealth University is seeking to hire a researchassistant with experience working with intrinsically disordered proteins.

Position Responsibilities:

Responsibilitieswill routinely include protein expression and protein purification, as well as theuse of advanced biochemical and analytical equipment. The principal researchfocus will be on elucidating structural and biochemical features ofamyloidogenic proteins. The successful candidate will be expected toindependently execute experiments, compile data, analyze results, andcontribute to the preparation of manuscripts – all while promoting both acollegial and rigorous laboratory environment. Periodic technical progress reports will also be required.
Thisappointment will be on an hourly wage basis, with a target average of 29 hoursper week annually. Typical hours are M –F but may sometimes include weekends.
Required Qualifications:

Minimumqualifications include a B.S. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related adiscipline. Applications are sought fromenthusiastic and hardworking candidates with a demonstrated laboratory skillsetthat includes sterile technique, pipetting, and gel electrophoresis, as well asgeneral competency in detailed record keeping, data organization, and datapresentation.
