The Division of Community Nutrition (DCN) is responsible for the administration of the Child and Adult Care Food Program(CACFP) in Virginia. As part of this responsibility, DCN provides administrative and technical assistance to sponsoringorganizations and institutions at locations statewide.

The main function of the position supports the delivery of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) in programdevelopment, monitoring, analysis, recommending policy and procedures, program research, evaluation changes in rules andregulations for impact on service delivery. This position requires independently performing regional compliance reviews atinstitutions and sponsors of institutions participating in the CACFP; assessing organizational compliance with Federal and Stateregulations; identifying systemic weaknesses, errors, deficiencies, or fraud; providing technical assistance and training duringonsite reviews and the application process; preparing reports for submission to the US Department of Agriculture.

Provides support, in a staff capacity, by focusing on intermediate term program issues with agency wide application.

Characteristic duties include: program development, planning, monitoring, analysis, grants management, recommendingpolicies and procedures, program research, and evaluating changes in rules, regulations and legislative proposals for impacton service delivery. Thorough knowledge of program management, analytical principles and service integration is necessary.Responsibilities are carried out independently based on an outline or work plan developed by or approved by the supervisor.

The position requires a considerable amount of time traveling across the state to conduct compliance reviews.

Hybrid telework available after mandatory on-site 6-month orientation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge of data analysis, data flow diagrams, quality control methods and to provide technical assistance
  • Ability to effectively present information; interpret/implement data collection and reporting requirements
  • Ability to apply moderate to complex skills in report development, electronic data transfer and presentation visualizations
  • Skills in data management and committee leadership
  • Knowledge/understanding of administrative law practices; criminal law and the principles of regulatory authority
  • Possess skills to handle highly sensitive investigations/situations effectively; prepare technical documentation and writereports
  • Possess excellent organizational skills, ability to set priorities and work independently
  • Frequent travel may be required
