Job Duties
The Court Management Analyst is responsible for offering technical assistance to the judges and clerks throughout the Commonwealth. This technical assistance consists of suggestions on how to improve case flow management, the best use of personnel, equipment, and space, the use of mediation services, and how to improve internal financial controls. The CMA will also work with other state agencies that interact with the court, i.e., the Department of Motor Vehicles, Department of Social Services, Auditors of Public Accounts, Treasurer, Department of Accounts, Virginia State Police, etc.
The following vacancies are available in each Division: 1 - Circuit Court, 1 - General District Court, and 2 - Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court
Essential Duties & Responsibilities - The Court Management Analyst's major objective is to provide continued support to the courts of this Commonwealth. This would include, but is not limited to, on-site visits, training, telephone and e-mail support, and documentation. Major areas of responsibilities include:
•Management Analysis - On-site review of Clerk's office operation
•Calendar Management/Scheduling
•Policy/Procedure Development
•Training (Legislative updates, regionals, district-wide, on-site)
•Routine support (on-site, telephone, email)
•Extensive travel throughout the Commonwealth required
Minimum Qualifications
A minimum of five (5) years of direct experience with the Virginia Circuit, General District, or J&DR Court system including its operation, processes, and procedures. A minimum of three (3) years of recent experience directing and supervising a team of professionals. Demonstrated knowledge of court operations, case flow and workflow principles, financial management, and court case processing. Experience presenting in large and small group settings and training on court-related management topics. Demonstrated ability to develop and manage programs; to communicate effectively orally and in writing; to work effectively with legal and business personnel, providers and organizations, and the public at large. Strong interpersonal skills and excellent organizational skills.
Additional Considerations
Competitive applicants will possess:
•Advanced degree or certification through the National Center for State Courts (NCSC) Institute for Court Management (ICM).
•Knowledge of court case data, caseload statistics, and the use of management and data information to affect court operational efficiencies.
•Ability to organize and lead groups in strategic and operational goal-setting and planning efforts.
•Ability to work with public officials at all levels of government including judges and clerks of court.
