Job Duties
The Admissions Counselor will report to the Director of Recruitment.
The successful candidate will :
  • Make follow-up personal, telephone, and letter contacts to prospective students, and arrange visits of prospective students to the campus.
  • Work with Alumni Affairs and academic departments on various recruitment efforts.
  • Assist in collecting data, compiling reports, conducting research, and in planning relative to the University's program of student recruitment and admission.
  • Assist in preparing publications to support student recruitment.
  • Assist in evaluating transcripts of all students.
  • Render admissions decisions under established policies and procedures.
  • Visit and partner with churches, civic organizations, and other agencies to attract prospective students to the University.
  • Enter student data into computer system.
  • Represent the University with a high level of professionalism at recruitment events, both on and off campus and in and out-of-state, frequently requiring weekend travel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Recruitment.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in counseling, education, sociology or related field.
  • One (1) year of experience in enrollment management.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and to present information clearly and concisely.
  • Demonstrated ability to exhibit professionalism and a well-groomed appearance.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish relationships between the University employees and other colleges and universities, schools, church groups and other entities.
  • Considerable knowledge of counseling and guidance techniques in student recruitment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with other faculty and staff, parents, and professional staff at external agencies.
  • Possess a current driver's license.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and other software applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate to a diverse audience, verbally and in writing, with emphasis applied to a commitment to diversity.
  • Ability to travel frequently.
