Job Duties
Provide quality human resource support to all employees, supervisors and managers. Provides guidance to employees on DOCTime, Cardinal, payroll and benefits and the new hire process. Processes payroll transactions related to HR functions. Provides education and training to staff on Federal/State/DOC/DHRM polices and procedures. Coordinates background investigations to include fingerprints and drug tests if applicable. Manages onboarding and DOCTime process.
This is a wage position limited to working no more than 1,500 hours per agency during the 12-month period of May 1 - April 30, regardless of the hire date. The wage employment period resets on May 1 of the following year. All wage employees are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week on average over the 12-month period. This wage position does not offer state benefits.
Minimum Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent. Working knowledge of timekeeping practices. Knowledge and ability to apply/interpret general human resource policies and procedures. PC operations to include a variety of HRRM databases. Requires ability to manage detailed and time-sensitive workloads. Must be able to compose correspondence utilizing standard grammar and punctuation and to communicate effectively with multiple levels of staff, and visitors(orally and written). Requires excellent customer service skills. Ability to work in a fast paced environment, and maintain confidentiality, integrity and high level of customer service skills. Eager to learn and develop skills and abilities to provide optimal customer service.
Additional Considerations
Working knowledge of timekeeping practices. Advance knowledge in business, office practices and procedures, and automated business applications. Experience with DOCTime, Cardinal, BOX and software applications such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and DocuSign/virtu. General knowledge of benefits administration, including leave policies- VRS, healthcare, deferred compensation, FLSA, and FMLA.
