The Virginia Eye Institute (VEI) is hiring! VEI is a large and dynamic practice of ophthalmologists and optometrists in the Richmond, VA area.We are searching for a full-time Lead Patient Care Representative to join our busy practice.Job Purpose The Lead Patient Care Representative collaborates with the Clinic Manager for daily operations of all functions as it relates to front desk/registration. The Lead Patient Care Representative integrates the department’s services with the Practice’s primary functions, assist with development and implementation of policies and procedures that guide or support service, assesses and assists with improving department performance, and ensures orientation and continuing education of departmental staff. As the Lead Patient Care Representative this person will assist with selection of new staff, on-boarding of new staff members, training/mentoring and may recommend resources/space needed by the department. Duties and Responsibilities Fully register patients from the beginning to the end Assist with oversight of front desk operations to include Patient Care Representatives Assist with order supplies according to budget guidelines and department needs Maintain QA statistics (including patient wait times, etc.) and report results to the Clinic Manager Provide information to Clinic Manager that will assist with employee evaluations. (During on-ramp and yearly) Provide continuous education for all registration staff of any changes pertinent to their roles When appropriate, relieve staff members during employee breaks/sick/vacation time Secure all signatures necessary for treatments: release of medical information, HIPAA forms, and Financial Policy Work closely and professionally with clinical departments in an effort to maintain a teamwork approach Excel in all functions performed by patient care representatives Collect/request past due balances, deposits and copays Assist the Clinic Manager with opening/closing the front desk to include end of day deposit batching Assume on-call responsibilities second to Clinic Manager to ensure adequate staffing and problem-solving Register all patient types Schedule and assist with evaluation processes; helps resolve patient and employee concerns Assist Clinic Manager to ensure all personnel and department policies and procedures are followed Act in the capacity of a Clinic Manager in his/her absence, and informs Manager of all issues upon his/her return Oversee and maintain effectiveness of patient flow Recommends sufficient number of qualified/competent staff to Clinic Manager. Collaborates and assist with development of staff qualifications and competency. Attends in-service presentations, and complete mandatory education and staff development Other duties as assigned
