Virginia Garcia Memorial is Hiring a Learning Experience Designer/Senior Training Specialist Near Hillsboro, OR

The Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center’s mission is to provide high quality, culturally appropriate healthcare to low-income residents of Washington and Yamhill Counties with a special emphasis on seasonal and migrant farm-workers and to others with barriers to receiving health-care.

Starting Pay: $33.2480/hr DOE
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 40 hours/wk

Job Summary: The Learning Experience Designer / Senior Training Specialist is a key position within the Organizational Development Department. The person in this position will assess, design, develop, implement and evaluate learning and training solutions to which they are assigned. As needed, this individual will take a lead role / project management role to help roll out learning solutions. In some cases, this position will be asked to directly deliver training on topic areas in which they have expertise or can develop expertise. 

The Learning Experience Designer / Senior Training Specialist uses instructional design and adult learning principles and related software and hardware to create learning programs and curriculums in alignment with VG’s strategic initiatives and core operating processes. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

·Take a lead role in assessing, designing, developing, and evaluating learning and development solutions as directed by supervisor.

·Support OD Department in assessing and evaluating the effectiveness of training and education provided by VG.

·Work with supervisor, OD Director, and other VG staff to identify training needs and assist in the development and delivery of training solutions.

·Create - from conceptual design through final development and implementation – learning programs and activities focused on improving the effectiveness of individuals and teams.

·Instruct internal trainers and presenters in best practices regarding developing and delivering training, giving presentations, and adult learning principles.

·Create supporting materials including job aids, scripts, and infographics as needed for internal training and staff development activities.

·Work with staff at all levels and with subject matter experts to develop and deliver training curriculum, e-modules, training programs, and learning or development events.

·Use appropriate technology to develop, deliver and store training. As appropriate, instruct others in the use of these technologies such as Screencasting tools like Storyline, Adobe Captivate or similar; Microsoft Publisher or similar; PowerPoint or similar; GoToMeeting or similar.

·Provide live classroom or web-based training as needed, in areas of expertise, including areas in which additional personal learning is needed prior to delivering the training.

·Seek out new learning and development materials, methods and techniques and bring these into the organization when practical and affordable.

·Monitor, evaluate, and make recommendations about the quality and cost-effectiveness of learning and development programs.

·Provide subject matter expertise to existing and new training and development programs, projects and products.

·Support the maintenance of databases and related products and materials used to provide and track training; maintain records of training activities.

·Coordinate and provide individual training to staff, as needed.

·As needed, participate in - or coordinate - routine learning activities provided by Virginia Garcia.

·Apply adult-learning theories to training methods and curriculum.

·Use project management methods to successfully plan and execute projects.

·Analyze and evaluate training needs, identify performance and proficiency gaps, and determine the root cause for the gaps.

·Attend and participate in team meetings and committees.

·Collaborate and cooperate with VG supervisors and others to achieve team, department and organizational objectives.

·Maintain constructive employee relationships.

  • Handle protected health information (PHI) in a manner consistent with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).

·Perform other duties as assigned.

HIPAA Requirements:

This position may be exposed to PHI in the course of their duties in order to design training programs. All employees are required to read the content of PHI records only to the extent needed to perform the functions of the job.

·Ability to present/facilitate training and development activities for individuals and groups.

·Skilled in the use of common computer applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint programs.

·Demonstrated skill with software programs such as Screencasting, Learning Management Systems, Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft SharePoint and the ability to teach such programs to others as needed.

·Ability to track and respond to end-user concerns and questions in a timely manner.

·Ability to communicate effectively and maintaining good working relationships.

·Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment handling multiple priorities with a high degree of accuracy.

  • Valid drivers’ license, reliable transportation, safe driving record and insurance coverage required.

·Demonstrated ability to exhibit a high level of confidentiality.

Education and Experience Required:

·Master’s degree in a related field, and one year of successful experience in a related position; or Bachelor’s degree in a related field or CPLP Certification, and three years of successful experience in a related position.
