Virginia Tech is Hiring a Lab Technician (Vijayan Lab) Near Blacksburg, VA
This position will be located in Roanoke and Blacksburg. The successful candidate must have reliable transportation that enables them to travel to and from the main Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg and the Virginia Tech Carillon Research Institute and Medical School in Roanoke. ||Duties of the laboratory and research specialist may include working on model construction, data collection, data organization, and data analysis and coordinating projects with other members of the laboratory. The candidate will have the opportunity to co-author publications and, depending on their background and experience, craft their own research projects. Training and guidance and will be provided for those aspects of the job in which the candidate is lacking sufficient expertise. This is an hourly position; hours will vary.
Required QualificationsExperience working in a research laboratory and/or BS in applied mathematics, computer science, engineering, physics, computational neuroscience, psychology, or a related field.
Experience with computer functions such as data entry and data analysis.
Eagerness to learn about all aspects of research related to neuroscience, biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, applied mathematics, and medicine.
Preferred QualificationsProgramming experience (e.g., with Python or Matlab) is desirable.
Experience running behavioral experiments or collecting EEG data would be an asset.
