The Sand Blaster/Painter prepares surfaces for painting and finishing; applies undercoats and finish coats using the full range of application methods and materials; mixes and matches paints and finishes; advises in the selection and storage of painting materials. Maintains equipment. Performs related work as required.

Some other responsibilities include:

• Read job orders and inspect workpieces to determine work procedures and materials required.
• Clean surfaces of workpieces in preparation for coating, using cleaning fluids, solvents, brushes, steam or sandblasting.
• Apply coatings to protect surfaces, using spray guns or brushes.
• Examine finished surfaces of workpieces to verify conformance to specifications and retouch any defective areas.
