Virtus Healthcare Staffing is partnering with an assisted living facility in Puyallup, WA to find a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist (OT). This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled OT to make a positive impact on the lives of residents by helping them maintain their independence and improve their quality of life in a supportive and engaging environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations for residents to assess their functional abilities and needs in areas of daily living, including self-care, mobility, and leisure activities.
- Develop individualized treatment plans that address each resident's specific goals, focusing on activities of daily living (ADLs), instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs), and leisure activities.
- Utilize a variety of occupational therapy techniques to improve residents' strength, coordination, endurance, cognitive skills, and overall well-being.
- Provide education and training to residents, families, and caregivers on how to safely and effectively perform ADLs and IADLs to promote resident independence.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including nurses, physicians, social workers, and therapists, to ensure a holistic approach to resident care.
- Document progress in residents' medical records and participate in care conferences to effectively communicate treatment plans and resident progress.
- Maintain a safe and resident-centered treatment environment, fostering a sense of dignity and autonomy.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and stay up-to-date on current occupational therapy practices for geriatric populations.
- Minimum Requirements:
- Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy (OT) from an accredited program.
- Valid Occupational Therapy License in the state of Washington.
- Minimum one (1) year of clinical experience in a geriatric setting (preferred).
- Strong understanding of occupational therapy principles and practices for geriatric populations.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
- Ability to document effectively in medical records.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in an assisted living setting.
- Knowledge of evidence-based occupational therapy practices for promoting independence in older adults.
- Experience with ADL/IADL training and adaptations.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
