Responsibilities
Assist in Evaluations: Collaborate with the Occupational Therapist (OT) to conduct comprehensive assessments of residents' functional abilities, cognitive skills, and daily living needs.
Implement Treatment Plans: Under the supervision of a licensed OT, implement individualized treatment plans to address specific goals and challenges, focusing on maximizing independence and enhancing participation in daily activities.
Therapeutic Interventions: Deliver various therapeutic interventions, including activities of daily living (ADL) retraining, adaptive equipment training, cognitive rehabilitation, and fall prevention strategies.
Collaborate: Work effectively with the interdisciplinary team, including physical therapists, nurses, social workers, and physicians, to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care.
Document: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of resident progress and treatment interventions.
Qualifications
Education:
Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant from an accredited program.
Licensure:
Valid state license as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) in Maine.
Experience:
Experience in a skilled nursing facility or geriatric rehabilitation setting is preferred, but new graduates are welcome to apply.
Skills:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with residents, families, and staff.
Strong understanding of occupational therapy principles and techniques.
Ability to work effectively under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist.
