Responsibilities
Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive assessments of residents' communication and swallowing abilities, identifying areas for improvement.
Personalized Treatment Plans: Develop individualized care plans that address specific communication and swallowing difficulties, utilizing evidence-based practices and therapeutic techniques.
Therapeutic Interventions: Implement a variety of therapy interventions, including speech therapy, language therapy, and swallowing therapy, to improve residents' communication, cognitive, and swallowing skills.
Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, and other therapists, to ensure coordinated and holistic care.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of resident assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
Patient and Family Education: Educate residents and their families on communication strategies, swallowing techniques, and home programs to promote continued progress.
Qualifications
Education:
Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
Licensure:
Valid state license as a Speech-Language Pathologist in Maine.
Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or equivalent.
Experience:
Experience in a skilled nursing or geriatric rehabilitation setting is preferred, but new graduates are welcome to apply.
Skills:
Strong clinical skills in assessment, treatment planning, and intervention for communication and swallowing disorders.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with residents, families, and the healthcare team.
