About the Opportunity

This role offers a challenging and rewarding career path for an ICU RN who thrives in a fast-paced, critical care environment. You will provide exceptional care to critically ill patients and their families, working collaboratively with a team of physicians, specialists, and nurses.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, monitoring vital signs and other physiological data.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
• Operate and maintain complex medical equipment, including ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring systems, and dialysis machines.
• Respond to critical situations and emergencies, implementing appropriate interventions and notifying physicians promptly.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
• Document patient care comprehensively and accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR) Allscripts.
• Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families.
• Participate in unit-based education and in-service training.
• Maintain a sterile and safe environment for patients and staff.

Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in any state of the United States, The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in critical care nursing.
• Current certifications in:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) (must be completed within six months of hire, if not already held)
  • Trauma Care After Resuscitation (TCAR) (must be completed within six months of hire, if not already held)
  • National Institutes of Health (NIH) NIHSS NIH Stroke Scale (must be completed within six months of hire, if not already held)
• Experience working with a variety of critical care patients and their families.
• Proficiency in operating and maintaining complex medical equipment.
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and work independently while also being a team player.
• Commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate care to patients and their families.
• Experience working with Allscripts EMR a plus.

Schedule

• Rotating schedule:
  • Days: 0630 - 1900
  • Nights: 1830 - 0700
• May involve floating to PACU, ER, and Med/Surg units.
