Position Overview: Virtus Healthcare Staffing is seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our partner, a hospital in Manchester, CT, for a position in the Labor and Delivery unit. This night shift role offers an excellent opportunity for RNs with strong labor and delivery experience, including first-time travelers.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive care to patients in the Labor and Delivery unit, including labor, Level I nursery, LDRP, mother/baby, and C-sections.
- Monitor and assess patient conditions during labor and delivery.
- Assist with and perform necessary procedures, including C-sections.
- Offer postpartum care and support to mothers and newborns.
- Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
- Educate patients and families on postpartum and newborn care.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
- Ensure adherence to hospital policies and procedures.
- Active, unrestricted RN license in the state of Connecticut.
- BLS, NRP, ACLS, and FHM certifications are required.
- C-EFM certification required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in labor and delivery.
- First-time travelers accepted with strong experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend required
- Start Date: ASAP
- Scrubs provided
- Fast-moving LDRP unit with 12 LDRP beds, 3 extended stay rooms (for post-C/S patients), and 3 triage rooms.
- The unit includes 5 overflow beds for postpartum patients.
- Approximately 1500 deliveries per year.
- Level 2B NICU on the unit, accepting patients who are >28 weeks old.
- Type of Facility: Acute Care Hospital
- Total Staffed Beds: 140
- Beautiful parks, lakes, and an abundance of wonderful hiking trails.
- Historical cities with old castles to explore.
- Located 15 minutes outside Hanford.
- 45 minutes to New Haven.
- 2.5 hours outside New York City.
- 1.5 hours to Boston.
- First-time travelers are welcome.
