Key Responsibilities
- Evaluation and Diagnosis: Conduct comprehensive evaluations, including standardized testing and clinical observations, to assess speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing function in individuals of all ages.
- Treatment Planning and Implementation: Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and evidence-based practices, implementing effective interventions to improve communication skills and swallowing function.
- Patient and Family Education: Educate patients and their families on communication disorders, treatment strategies, and home programs to promote ongoing progress and support.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive and coordinated care to patients.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
- Professional Development: Participate in continuing education and professional development activities to stay current with the latest advancements in speech-language pathology.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to students and new SLPs, fostering their professional growth and development.
- Quality Improvement: Actively participate in departmental performance improvement initiatives to ensure the highest quality of care.
- Required:
- Valid license or provisional permit to practice speech therapy in the state of Idaho
- Current CPR/first responder certification
- Preferred:
- Previous experience working as a speech language pathologist
