Job Description
The Senior Manager, Pismo Risk Business Partner will provide effective challenge to business teams to execute on risk management related to Pismo's products, services, and operations, consistent with Visa's Enterprise Risk Management Framework and Risk Appetite. This role requires practical & strategic understanding of the payments industry, business environment & demonstrated experience assessing risks associated with business imperative/strategies. Must work collaboratively with cross functional & geographically diverse teams to execute against a common goal of protecting the Visa Enterprise.
The successful candidate must have:
  • Proven experience in assessing risks across an enterprise, incl. operational, technology & regulatory risks
  • A clear understanding of the Three Lines of Defense model and its application across financial and technology firms
  • Understanding of the payments industry, including the regulatory environment, associated products/services and the broader competitive landscape
  • Sufficient technical expertise to effectively challenge functions as needed (Client Services, Technology, Sales Ops etc.)
  • Collaborative personality, with experience managing deliverables across global and regional teams
  • Demonstrable experience in overseeing risk within strategic initiatives and change programs
  • Proven analytical, process and problem solving skills, ability to be both strategic and tactical
  • Ability to accomplish results and exercise influence in a large, global, matrix organization
Candidate will be responsible for:
  • Linking Visa risk appetite and Pismo's growth strategy, by supporting the identification of risks & mitigation activity, providing effective challenge to the first line business functions to ensure appropriate mitigation is applied
  • Supporting the establishment of an appropriate Second line of defense for Pismo, through implementing Global Risk programs, collaborating closely with functional subject matter experts across Global Risk and the wider Visa teams
  • Monitoring the effectiveness of risk management within Pismo to ensure mitigating measures are effective in protecting Visa and the wider Visa enterprise (e.g. managing the maintenance of risk registers and Key Risk Indicators) and working with Visa Global Risk and other functional centers of excellence to ensure appropriate incorporation into their 1st and 2nd line risk management programs
  • Lead deep dives as needed to strengthen the control environment
  • Supporting the oversight of Pismo's risk profile and collaborating with cross functional subject matter experts to help identify Enterprise wide and acquired entity related headwinds and tailwinds & determining implications to Visa and the Pismo Business Unit (emerging risks, top risks, regional risks etc.)
  • Championing risk culture by developing & maintaining risk partnerships to educate & infuse Risk Management culture into the organization
  • Driving risk management digitization, leading efforts to roll out a risk management system to increase automation of monitoring and reporting and better utilization of risk data and insights for more effective decision making
  • Support and lead updates to senior leadership, governance, regulators and other external parties on Visa's risk management activities for the Pismo business unit.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
  • 8 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD
Preferred Qualifications
  • 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD
  • An understanding of the payments industry and/or financial services, payment products and services, and of wider economic / competitive landscape
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, communication, and facilitation skills, plus ability to work independently and effectively in a continually changing environment
  • Proven ability to develop strong relationships and work with all organizational levels
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint
  • Deep understanding of Operational Risk
  • Knowledge of IBM Open Pages
Additional Information
Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.
Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 113,100.00 to 164,050.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
