Assistant Child Care Director

Childcare Description **Position Summary:**

The assistant director/enrollment coordinator is part of the Leadership team that collaborates together to bring their early childhood professional experience and organizational skills to support the mission of the childcare center. The position includes assisting with program planning, health and safety planning, staff hiring/training and supervision. Responsible for the entire process of enrollment of new families from giving the family a tour to ensuring the childs file has all of the required documents to satisfy licensing requirements.

REPORTS TO: Child Care Director

SUPERVISES: Staff as assigned and all when Director is absent

HOURS: Full Time Nonexempt (Monday-Friday), some evenings and special events

LOCATION: Shoreline, WA

* $19.50-$22.50 per hour DOE

**Responsibilities will include:**

*Assist with overall administration, planning and enrollment processes for the program*

* Assist in Planning and implementing activities and programs that foster community and family involvement

* Maintaining good communication with parents, and ensures that they remain involved in the Center

* Help implement developmentally appropriate practices in Early Childhood Education that teach respect for cultural diversity and a love for Jesus

* Report to CPS and others as needed as a mandated reporter

* Assists in ensuring the program is staffed appropriately at all times

* Assist in creating tuition rates for child care.

* Create Pro-Care accounts, create billing accounts and payment schedule for new families.

* Assist with overall administration, curriculum development and implementation for the program

* Assist with reviewing, evaluating and selecting various models of current curricula

* Coordinate the review/assessment of current curricula to ensure that intended objectives and state standards are met

* Help lead informational discussions with staff regarding implementation of the developmental curricula for individual classrooms

* Assist in interviewing and hiring new staff as needed

* Assist appropriate orientation and ongoing in-service staff training on program policies.

* Assist with regular staff meetings

* Assist in developing staff work schedules

* Assist in developing and maintaining staff work schedules

* Collaborate closely with director to observe, evaluate, train, and review staff performance of overall program policies.

* In absence of the center director, asst. director will assume all day-to-day responsibilities of center operation.

* Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements **Assistant Child Care Director candidates should have the following qualifications:**

* BA degree in ECE or related field. AA degree will be considered with additional experience

* Knowledge of child development as evidenced by professional reference, education, experience, and on-the-job performance.

* Minimum 4 years qualifying professional experience working with young children, preferably in child care.

* Demonstrated leadership and team building skills.

* Proven management and supervisory skills.

* Ability to relate to and work effectively with culturally diverse children and families.

* Strong oral and written communication skills.

* Good organization and problem solving skills.

* Valid Washington State drivers license, reliable transportation and insurance.

* Ability to sign our Statement of Faith.

**Certificates & Licensing Requirements:**

* Cleared Portable Background Check/Fingerprinting through DEL

* CPR, First Aid, HIV, Blood Borne Pathogens training

* Cleared TB test

* Food handler's permit

* Whooping cough vaccine

**Physical Demands/Work Requirements:**

* Must be able to lift 40 pounds properly.

* Ability to assume postures in low level positions that best allow physical and visual contact with children.

* Perform all activities with children occasionally.

* Must possess acceptable hearing and visual capabilities in order to monitor the environment and children's well-being.
