Visron Technical is Hiring a Quality Engineer II Near Ithaca, NY

Our client is a global leader in developing software-driven technology and printing solutions for high-growth markets including food service, casino and gaming, and POS automation. The Company's solutions are designed from the ground up based on customer requirements.

Job Summary:
A hands-on Quality Assurance role to support supplier, process, and customer quality. Responsible for leading and/or supporting problem resolution, supporting supplier relations, managing core quality processes such as suspect material, first article inspection, and CAPA, and driving quality improvement projects across variety of processes and systems. This position also requires regular interface with global supply chain to manage issues that arise.
Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Provide training and assistance to Quality Inspector as needed in performing visual, dimensional, and functional verification of incoming, in process, and final products to verify conformance with specifications and industry quality standards.
  • Work with component drawings and measurement equipment to verify specified dimensions using Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Develop and build custom tools and gauges for specific inspection needs. Perform gauge R&R studies to validate new tools and inspection methods. Develop and implement inspection plans for new products.
  • Troubleshoot daily product quality issues, lead Quality Alert/ Quick Response meetings and assist with root cause analysis.
  • Work closely with relevant teams and departments to support ongoing corrective action and continuous improvement initiatives. Lead problem solving teams using a systematic problem-solving approach and standard Corrective Action process. Maintain CAR database and records as appropriate.
  • Perform first article evaluations on new products. Review First Article Reports (FAR) to ensure accuracy and compliance. Work with Engineering team to manage FAR submissions and ensure timely completion through FAR process. Review engineering drawing changes for accuracy. Manage FAR sample inventory at the Ithaca location.
  • Maintain and review all quality inventory on a regular basis. Generate monthly scrap reports of dispositioned materials.
  • Manage all Suspect Material generated at the Ithaca production facility and provide review of UK rejected material records. This includes:
    1. Running biweekly MRB meetings to review Ithaca rejected material and notify quality management of new rejects.
    2. Working with manufacturing to review rejected material from WIP. Selecting defective products to return to vendor for review.
    3. Completing the VRMA process and disposition Return Material Authorizations (RMA's) in a timely manner.
    4. Ensuring all Suspect Material inventory is appropriately identified, managed, and dispositioned.
    5. Generating and reviewing NetSuite records of Suspect Material for US and UK teams, providing appropriate records to our suppliers and contract manufacturers
    6. Support Quality Inspection team with reviewing suspect material dispositioned for return to stock.
  • Document and report reject statistics from manufacturing, Safe Launch, RMA's, and Sales Returns.
  • Assist in documenting and maintaining comprehensive quality procedures, work instructions, and training guides for quality supported functions and inspection activity
  • Assist with internal and external quality management audits as necessary.
  • Other activities as defined by the organization.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Demonstrated working knowledge and experience using QA methodologies such as Problem Solving, Gauge R&R and capability studies.
  • BS in Engineering or equivalent experience. ASQ CQE certification a plus.
  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience in Quality Assurance/Engineering/Technical role. Relevant experience with production processes a plus.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective use of precision measuring tools (caliper, micrometer, programmable visual measurement system, pin gage, height gage, durometer).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints using GD&T system.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and demonstrate the ability to work with others either one-on-one, as a team, or in a group.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to remain flexible and responsive to changes in workload.
  • Must be able to utilize a PC to communicate and retrieve relevant information. Good knowledge of MS Office and Window applications to prepare spreadsheets, charts, reports. Access experience a plus.
  • Experience with ERP Inventory Management systems such as NetSuite or SAP preferred.
