Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Director of Care Parent Network, the Parent Mentor Coordinator is responsible for training and supporting Parent Mentors to provide assistance to other parents in Care Parent Network. The Parent Mentor Coordinator is responsible for staying informed about developments in supporting children of all ages with disabilities and must be proficient in public speaking, conducting training in both English and Spanish, and engaging with diverse and multilingual populations.
Due to the nature of Care Parent Network grant funding, this position may be time-limited.
Essential Functions:

• Coordinate Parent Mentor Project, including identifying potential parent mentors, training mentors, facilitating parent matches, following up with a phone call or email to a peer parent.

• Provide ongoing support to identified parent mentors.

• Participate in Care Parent Network staff meetings, team collaborations and professional development activities.

• Collaborates with coworkers in giving input into monthly newsletter.

• Formats training and outreach flyers and resource directories, maintains database.

• Participates in community outreach and training activities as assigned.

• Prepares and submits all required program documentation by the appropriate deadline and adheres to all confidentiality policies.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Demonstrated commitment to the family empowerment model.

• Knowledge of Early Start, IDEA, Lanterman Act, health care system, other related laws and regulations, and community resources preferred.

• High level of familiarity with computer systems.

• Ability to conduct in person and virtual training sessions in English and Spanish.

• High school diploma, or equivalent.

• Direct experience as a parent, primary caregiver, or immediate family member of a child with special needs preferred.

• Must have a valid California driver’s license and a good driving record.

• Must have own vehicle with insurance to use for work purposes
