Vital Energy is Hiring a Compressor Tech III - Delaware Near Pecos, TX

Principal Duties And ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include but are not limited to the following essential functions:
  • Assist and service all aspects of Compressor, VRU, and Flare/combustor operations.
  • Report daily to the Compressor Foreman regarding compressor performance and all identified issues.
  • Work in tandem with 3rd party mechanics on performance decisions and repairs.
  • Coordinate operating activity to ensure continual workflow of contract labor and equipment, maintaining timelines and efficiency.
  • Inspect the quality of the preventive maintenance programs by contractors, downtime, operating costs, fuel, oil, and antifreeze use, thereby reducing repair and downtime costs.
  • Reduce service call frequency by contractors.
  • Assist Facility Engineers in standardization of compression facilities whenever practical.
  • Inspects units and materials delivered for jobs for quality and quantity and tracks inventory.
  • Act as support to Compressor Foreman as contact for contractors, vendors, and company personnel necessary to support Compression Operations.
  • Review, process, and approve invoices associated with compression repair and preventive maintenance.
  • Communicate effectively with contractors, technical staff, and operational management.
  • Ensure employees and contractors adhere to local, company, state, and federal rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance by coordinating with Compressor Foreman to aid communication with the EH&S and Air Quality departments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Knowledge, And Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must meet and maintain eligibility requirements to drive a company vehicle.
  • Minimum of 3 years or more of compressor/vru experience including preventive maintenance, diagnosis of problems, and required repairs.
  • Prefer a minimum of 3 years of field operation experience.
  • Must be able to start compressors and place them online.
  • Ability to judge priorities on unit repairs in terms of downtime, potential losses, and efficient working methods.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with all levels of employees in the organization.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of economic evaluations and indicators and their effect on the area of responsibility.
  • Possess understanding of SCADA and other technology designed tools and programs
  • Prefer an understanding of compression for gas lift application and compressor station operations, as well as VRU’s, flares, and combustors.
  • Must be self-motivated, work with minimal supervision, maintain reliable attendance, and demonstrate flexible and cooperative behavior in the workplace.

CompensationSalary is commensurate with experience.
Working ConditionsWork is normally performed outdoors where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, fumes and gases is common. Noise level is moderate to loud and includes sounds of construction, equipment operations, and trucks and like equipment. Job hazards include working in normal light and heavy construction activities and working around pressured propane, water, electricity, and waste lines and under all weather conditions. May work in areas where H2S is present. Irregular working hours and stand-by/on-call hours are required.
Physical DemandsWork normally requires finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to operate computer keyboard at moderate skill level. Work may require frequent pushing, pulling, or carrying 50 to 75 pound objects such as tools, equipment work operations. Work involves standing and walking most of the time but will also involve sitting and driving for extended periods sometimes over rough terrain.
