Therapist III (Residential Treatment)
Job Description:
Provide specialized mental health and/or alcohol and other drug services, including Mental Health Assessment, Chemical Dependency or Dual Diagnosis Assessment, Behavioral Health Counseling and Therapy Services, other chemical dependency treatment services, Community Psychiatric Supportive Treatment, Case Management, Consultation, and Prevention. Services are provided based on clients' Individual Service Plan (ISP) defined needs and priorities.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct diagnoses or needs assessments on referred clients.
- Write, revise, and advocate for successful ASAM reports with Managed Care Organizations to obtain authorization for treatment.
- Work in men's or women's residential treatment programs.
- Meet productivity standards in providing direct client services, including individual and group services.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate services with the participation of clients and their families.
- Develop, maintain, and monitor assigned clients' ISP; review clients' progress in treatment and communicate with other qualified providers, administrative staff, and referring agencies as needed.
- Manage a reasonably sized caseload.
- Provide referrals to other services as required.
- Assist and support clients in crisis situations, delivering appropriate crisis intervention and safety planning services.
- Act as a supervisor to student interns, maintaining fidelity to program and treatment model rules.
- Assist clients' families in strengthening communication skills, accessing appropriate physical and mental health care, chemical dependency resources, transportation needs, and opportunities to build social skills.
- Collaborate and coordinate services with other professionals, including psychiatry, primary care physicians, probation officers, and community mental health providers.
- Monitor psychiatric symptoms of clients as appropriate.
- Attend and participate in meetings, supervision, and in-service trainings relevant to specific areas of responsibility.
Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related fields, with 3-5 years of related experience.
- LISW, LPCC, LICDC, or IMFT certification.
- Current certification in First Aid and CPR, as required per program guidelines.
- Strong understanding of addiction and mental illness.
- Ability to form effective working and therapeutic relationships.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse economic, cultural, and administrative backgrounds, including those with criminal justice involvement.
- Knowledgeable and responsive to cultural diversity issues in service coordination.
