The Human Resources Department at Brookhaven Hospital is pleased to announce an opening for Director of Human Resources. We are looking for employees that desire a career in a forward-looking, progressive department that focuses on quality, innovation, and leadership. Brookhaven Hospital is Tulsa’s premier Psychiatric Hospital, specializing in the rehabilitation of adults with neurologic disorders such as acquired brain injury. Our Joint Commission accredited, CARF accredited, and CMS certified, 64-bed hospital is growing, and we are seeking professionals who are committed to being team players with high standards and excellent treatment values.

The Human Resource Director is responsible for overall administration and technical operations of the hospital’s human resource department and programs to include, but not limited to recruitment and hiring programs, benefits management, employee recognition, employee relations and engagement, and workers’ compensation management.

The position is responsible for maintaining current employment records in compliance with the C.M.S., Joint Commission and CARF standards and requirements, periodic review of job titles and descriptions as well as wage, salary, and benefit structure, counseling and conflict intervention/resolution, and designing and implementing employee programs and functions.

Brief description of responsibilities are as follows:

  • Strategically planning and handling recruitment and retention functions
  • Oversees and develops and evaluates recruiting resources and strategies
  • Overseeing and assisting with onboarding process
  • Maintaining HR compliance for all regulatory bodies
  • Establishing employee relations and helping maintain a culture of safety and compassion
  • Work closely with management team to reduce turnover and increase employee engagement
  • Developing and evaluating recruiting resources and strategies including but not limited to, recruitment ads, attending job fairs and networking with regional employment agencies and schools to recruit highly qualified candidates to fill open positions
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining employee personnel, education and medical files.
  • Responsible for employee evaluation process, assisting managers in completing and presenting these evaluations to employees
  • Monitoring employee health activities and workers' compensation management and employee leaves
  • Responsible for managing employee benefits including presenting all benefits to employees at hire and during open enrollment, and working closely with corporate benefits department on issues and problems when needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in HR, Business or related field required
  • 3 years Human Resources experience required
  • Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws, including OSHA, COBRA, ERISA, EEOC, HIPAA, FMLA and ADA.
  • Experience in a healthcare facility with in-depth exposure to CMS, JCAHO and/or CARF strongly preferred
  • HRCI PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred; or willing to become certified
  • Experience in recruitment and employee engagement preferred
  • Excellent computer skills required with proficiency with MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher and Adobe
  • Excellent organizational skills required
  • Excellent professional verbal and written communication skills required and medical terminology proficiency is preferred
