Location: Hartselle, Huntsville, Decatur, Mobile
Reports To: Director of Maintenance
Brief Overview & Know How:
Maintenance staff assist in the set-up and maintenance of the homes, properties, and facilities of Volunteers of America Southeast.
This position requires a person to be at least eighteen (18) years of age or older and a basic knowledge and the ability to do general household repairs, general maintenance, and other related tasks. Maintenance staff must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. and possess a valid driver’s license. Maintenance staff must comply with the vehicle insurance criteria.
Successful candidates for Maintenance must be able to meet/perform the following requirements and tasks or complete in house training to successfully complete these tasks.
- General repairs and maintenance,
- Climb tall ladders,
- Work from heights,
- Install a window blind,
- Patch and repair sheetrock,
- Replace a ballast in a fluorescent light,
- Replace a light fixture, exit light, and ceiling fan,
- Replace electrical elements on stove tops and ovens,
- Unclog a toilet with a plunger and/or snake,
- Replace a toilet including all of its components,
- Take apart a sink drain to clean or unclog it,
- Replace a faucet.
