THE WAY YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

You'll have a full- or part-time schedule, serving all of Sumner County, TN. We offer flexible 1st or 2nd shift options, including one Saturday a month.

As our Community Support Specialist, you will engage in community outreach by attending public events, businesses, festivals, and health department meetings, distributing flyers, and providing information about natural disaster relief and mental health counseling. You'll support tornado disaster victims and assist the Senior Director of the Crisis System with the Tennessee Recovery Project (TRP), conducting follow-up calls with individuals who contact the Disaster Hotline within 24 hours. You'll provide crisis assessment, counseling, linkage, and other services to individuals in mental health crises, including those with substance abuse problems. Your role includes working face-to-face with clients to help resolve crises, providing intervention and referrals in the least restrictive environment, responding to dispatches or walk-in clients, completing evaluations, and entering data efficiently to meet standards. You'll also make follow-up phone calls within 24 hours to ensure follow-up instructions are understood and referrals are accepted.

OUR REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in a clinical field, such as social work, counseling, psychology, etc.
  • Clinical experience
  • Knowledge of commitment procedures and additional resources
  • Ability to work independently, use good judgment, and function well under pressure
  • Ability to maintain a courteous, diplomatic, and helpful orientation
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with great attention to detail
  • Basic computer skills
  • Reliable transportation

Being licensed or the eligibility to become licensed in the state of Tennessee as well as the ability to become a Mandatory Prescreening Agent (MPA) is preferred but not required!
