Volunteers of America Delaware Valley is Hiring a Residential Program Counselor (ISSI/Phase II) Near Philadelphia, PA

Primary provider of a therapeutic environment for the treatment of individuals with behavioral health and developmental disabilities in a community residential setting with very close and structured supervision. Responsibilities include assisting with developing and implementing rehabilitation programs, assisting clients with scheduled activities, and conducting program operations in accordance with the principles of normalization, positive approaches and sound ethical social work practices.

SCOPE OF DUTIES

  1. Provide one to one and group counseling sessions in both formal and informal settings.
  2. Demonstrate competency in and administer crisis intervention as needed.
  3. Instruct in life skill areas such as academic, personal and home care, meal-planning/preparation, leisure time planning, financial management, shopping, etiquette, socialization, utilizing community resources, and vocational development.
  4. Assess consumer/program needs with agency approved assessment tools.
  5. Assist in the development of goal plans.
  6. Document program/consumer related activities in the daily log and progress notes.
  7. Maintain communication between all staff members.
  8. Assist consumers with obtaining and attending both psychiatric and medical care, appropriately documenting results.
  9. Provide appropriate medication supervision through monitoring and/or administration and documentation.
  10. Arrange and accompany consumers for shopping excursions, banking, community outings and other related program trips.
  11. Respond appropriately to emergency situations at the site along with the timely completion of incident reports.
  12. Interact with clients, staff, and outside contacts with respect and courtesy.
  13. Maintain client and staff confidentiality in compliance with administrative policies and procedures.
  14. Attend and participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings, supervisory conferences, and training sessions.
  15. Other duties as assigned.

ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Occasionally required to lift and move up to 25 lbs
  2. Ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less.
  3. Ability to see clearly at 20 feet or more.
