Description
Summary of Position: Under the immediate supervision of the VP of Behavioral Health, the Therapist is responsible for providing intensive counseling and/or psychotherapy to clients and/or families.
Position Type: This position is exempt and reports to the VP of Behavioral Health.

- Provides individual, couple, family, and group counseling or psychotherapy to clients at one or more of Volunteers of America of Illinois Veterans housing properties, in-home, at the main office, or in a confidential community setting to children and families in the foster care program.
- Provides parent-coaching services to biological parents working toward reunification in the foster care program, utilizing the Volunteers of American of Illinois Parent Coaching Program model.
- Acts upon own analysis of client situations under clinical supervision.
- Participates in regular group and clinical supervision meetings for consultation on the use of clinical interventions with clients
- Reports progress on caseload to supervisor; makes written evaluation reports on the progress of each client and performs record keeping functions required by the agency.
- Participates in agency studies of particular problems or casework practices
- Contributes to clinical staffing for foster care and/or veteran clients
- Conducts in-service trainings to service delivery staff
- Delivers services with sensitivity to the clients cultural and socioeconomic characteristics
- May provide supervision to practicum students
- Upholds and actively demonstrates investment in the mission and values of Volunteers of America of Illinois
Other Duties: As assigned by theVP of Behavioral Health.
Work Environment: Generally, this position operates in a professional office environment. The hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Physical Demands: Physical demands may be a part of the essential functions of this position especially as it relates to the capacity to move freely around the community in a vehicle, transport clients, etc. Reasonable accommodations for the physical demands of the essential functions of the position can be considered and made when possible in response to a specific request.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Possess analytical and psychosocial diagnostic skills and resourcefulness in developing treatment processes utilizing agency approved treatment modalities
- Possess good time management and organizational skills to proficiently compete assigned tasks and maintain clinical documentation consistently
- Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a motor vehicle
- Be proficient in software applications especially with Microsoft Office
Education and Experience:
- Must have LSW or LPC Licensure
- This position requires a Master's degree in Social Work, Clinical Psychology, or related field from an accredited college or university
- Prefer one year of post-graduate experience with one year of proven clinical experience, or have four years of pre-graduate and post-graduate combined experience.
